Jaguar XJ

After being released last night I havent got any pictures to hand but there are loads circulating the internet !
A bit Bentley at the back I think combined with C-XF front end.... not that these are a bad thing......what does everyone think ?

Personally I like it. I just hope it does all they hope for Jaguar sales.

All a bit academic what I think though - as I can't afford one anyway

You should be able to in about 3 years when they are selling for around £5-£10K second hand.
I'm not sure I like the rad grill but at least they have gone away from the 40 year old shape of the old XJ.

Future RVs are likely to do a lot better than the old model. The predictions for the XF are high, this should follow that trend. They need to look after it; keep volumes sensible and not sell their soul with stupid discounting and specification.

I am a huge fan of the old shape. A bloody brilliant Jaguar. However I think you are right; a change was needed. The grill is too XF for me. Sort of "hey look we've had one good idea". I like it though.

It looks ok as a car (but not a jag, if you know what i mean) but all i think when i see it is ford mondeo.

In my opinion Jags have never been any good since they stopped making the XJS!

I wouldn't quite go as far as saying that Jags have never been any good since the XJ-S.

But I am a bit biased as the owner of a 1988 V12 XJ-S convertible!!

A fabulous car that just doesn't seem to date - I love it

Having just had the opportunity to sit in the new XJ I can tell you that from inside it is very much a Jaguar.

It will have to sell well as i understand that Jaguar are ceasing production of the X-Type very soon with the loss of 300 jobs at Halewood!!

I know people said it's just an up market Mondeo, but it did sell fairly well, and I gather still is.

No small Jaguar any more. I hope they have made the right decision.

Aren't you thinking of the X-Type. That one is not like a Mondeo at all.

It won't be expected to sell as many as the X-Type did. That was more of a volume car, which wasn't really Jaguar.

Shame about the jobs

For Jaguar, long term, I think they have.

The X type is pretty much a mondeo.

When they came to the USA, they had a horrible quality problems. Meant as an intro car to the brand you can bet many wont be stepping up as they get older to more expensive jags after suffering through an X type.

I did some work for Jag on the XK and XF and well I do like them a lot. Probably more than a BMW or Merc right now. Be interesting to see how those models fare over time quality wise and also how the XJ is to drive.
