I know this is unlikely, but is this Lawson the same Eddie Lawson who rode for Kawasaki on 1000's and then 500 Yamaha's in the late 70's and 80's?

Was just trolling around and the name jumped out at me.

Absolutely! One and the same. He certainly wasn't the first to trade 2 wheels for 4, and won't be the last. Haven't heard much of him lately, though.

thanks emfa. I see that we were both born in the same year, and when I think of Lawson, I think of the beautifully tough squared-offed look of the green 1000 replicas with big Kerker pipes that were in showrooms around the time I started getting into motorcycles.

In 94 he must have been around 40, and Moore must have been 18 or 19 tops.

Lawson went onto CART with Galles in 1996 (or was it 1995? Everything become a blur with age) but never really showed race winning talent. If he were with another team it might have slightly improved his chances...

Yes, it was 1996.

Lawson used to get a lot of face time during race broadcasts due to the fact that he is married to actress Crystal Bernard who was starring in the Network sitcom "Wings" at the time.

Lawson started in eleven CART races for Rick Galles in 1996 before being replaced with Davey Jones. His best finishes were a pair of sixth places at the U.S. 500 and at Detroit.

I have no idea what Eddie Lawson is up to these days...

I am a huge Eddie Lawson fan.

He was fantastic on bikes and I think he was pretty good on four wheels as well...allthough the Galles team was a shadow of its former self when he drove for them.

currently I believe Eddie isnt doing alot except for racing shifter karts in California with old buddy (and another total legend) Wayne Rainey.

wayne is paralized - the kart is powered by a hand throttle and brake similar to a motorbike......i dont know how he would escape the kart if it was involved in an accident and caught on fire....

Wayne gave up his bike team so he could head back to the USA as his son was starting school!

I wash I was around to see Rainey,Lawson,Schwantz & Doohan compete together in the 500's in the late 80's early 90's
