ERX - Round 4 Kouvola Finland June 8-9

ERX Round 4 in Kouvola, Finland.

Finnish driver Toni Lukander will drive a Eklund Saab.
I assume J-P Leppihalme will be back in the Pauwels Focus.
If I remember well Toomas Heikkinen takes part in his home race.

Can we expect more local drivers?

The Doran crew is working day and night to fix the car. And I bet that if it proves impossible, he still has the car of Pat as a backup solution as he did for Xgames Brasil.

De Keersmaecker announced his come back for Sweden on his Facebook.

Doran (Liam) Facebook page had a picture of the repaired shell last night, so looks like it should be "his" car.

Sure a lot (if not all!) of you have seen this, but I just spotted this little snippet on ERC24...

http://erc24.com/archives/12868

...Brian Deegan will drive at the in Finland. Have to admit I'm very interested to see how he gets on as, although I haven't taken to him as a personality, I do think he is a skilled driver and one of the genuine talents of the GRC.

But the 30 includes Keersmaeker, so could lose one, but 29 is still a big improvement

See Andrew Jordan is tweeting he has been testing in Foust's car today.

Far better as far as supercars are concerned. I hope IMG take notice of the positive feedback and forget any future ideas of limiting numbers to 16 or 20 etc.

Good grid.

Will there be a live stream this round? IIRC when IMG announced the TV deals there was also talk of live streams.

Agreed.

I like the 4 heats format. Have not really a preference for the old A-B-C finals system or the new semi-finals/final system. Maybe they could increase to 8 cars in semi-finals and fiinal but maybe that will result in more carnage.

8 car semi finals and then 6 in the final would be a good idea. Also, make the top 2 qualify, and then the two fastest losers, that way you ensure that the guys dont back off the pace, which was a criticism of some of the semi finals earlier in the season.

Great grid and good to see so many locals giving it a go.

I was in favour of the semi finals format but after 3 rounds so far they have lacked excitement. With the heat format placing the quickest cars together 5 abreast the semis have often been an anti-climax with a grid made up of 1,3,5,7,9, & 11 (or even lower reserves) and staggered grids, the races have generally got spread out with the top 3 sticking to their position.

Its still early days, maybe 3 semis with just the top 2 going through might improve things but that would see an even bigger difference in performance from front to back. My opinion is the meeting should build up to the finals not get weaker, something TT hinted at during the Lydden driver interviews.

Checked the tv schedule for this weekend, doesn't look like Eurosport are showing the live coverage, not even delayed, disappointing.

The live stream seems to be running early, or at least the single camera shot is showing the marshals and photographers getting back into position.

I think it was an excellent live coverage!!
Offcourse i prefer to be live at the race but if you can't go this is perfect!

I must say that at the moment IMG deliver some good work and yes i hope that this will be the formula for a long term and that they don't restrict the entrees to 15-20 cars...

Up to Norway!

Agree. It was great to be able to watch from the US - and even better to see Tanner come through the field, with a little luck that everyone needs, to take the win.

Was also nice to see a Ford mixing it up with all those Citroen's.

Would like people's opinion of the Tohill/Larsson incident. Maybe I am biased but I thought Larsson came across a little on him. And that was that Christopher Evans sharing the commentary?

I hope so. I missed most of it (apart from the last lap of the final!).

Glad Tanner Foust won- he always comes across as so nice when he's interviewed and I think he's a pretty amazing driver. Some of the drivers are a bit surly.

Did I see Deegen racing?

Supported Solberg since 1998 and it's aged me by about 30 years. Surely sport shouldn't cause such pain and misery for 8 straight years?? Especially not to such a likeable man, not to forget world class driver! His luck will change in Hell, that's what I'm telling myself while downing a bottle of vodka anyway...

edit: I mention 8 straight years cos that's when he last won a WRC round, not because my maths 'since 1998' is really bad!

The livestream is still available on the streaming site for recap. That was really good stuff, and not so easy to deliver as it might seem.
http://new.livestream.com/accounts/3...events/2140268

Kris Meeke in the commentary booth was brilliant, and I was baffled by the knowledge he has about RX. When he was asked if he would come back to comment he answer was perfect: "When I come again, I have to bring a car!"

@Mark: I also think Larson closed the door to late, Derek was allongside and he nearly took them both out. Glad Derek could recover and still claim second when he deserved to win.
