Rounds 16, 17 & 18 - Snetterton
So, Frank Wrathall takes his first pole in the Toyota Avensis..
Anyone care to guess when Toyota last had a BTCC pole position?.. |

Here's to hoping Holland can learn the ropes in his first race so he can then come back stronger!
Plus also hoping that Focus can get to the pointy end of the field. Seriously, it reeks of glory. |

Been a busy day one way and another.
New NGTC Focus unveiled to the surprise of (almost ) everyone, and looks great. I'm not expecting miracles from it this weekend to be honest, it'd done about 10 laps total before qualifying so race one will be a reliability run as much as anything else, but it's great news for the championship and hopefully by the end of the year will have a race win under it's belt. Then the fire for Shedden - only found out when I got to the circuit, and when I saw the photos I thought there was no way that would be out for qualifying. You have to give Dynamics massive credit for that repair job. And to cap it all off, Wrathall only went and stuck it on pole I really didn't think anyone was going to beat Plato after FP2 so that was a fantastic effort from Frank. Here's hoping for a cracking day's racing tomorrow... |

Pity that Tim Harvey and Toby Moody spent the whole race asking if Mat Jackson could get a point for 10th place. As commentators they should be aware that points go down to 15th now...

Baptism by fire for Holland...
Good to see the NGTC Focus getting points, but I cringed when the bumper was hanging off. So can Plato win the next two races? |

I hope Dave Newsham gets 3rd place back after being pushed by Jordon. I thought his interveiw with Louise was bang on!

It's been a fair while since I watched the BTCC, and it's rather nice to see nothing has changed between Neal and Plato.

Well that's an overly aggressive comment.
Plato was out of order, but Neal shouldn't really have gone past after the contact. If Neal and Plato carry on like this it's got to be good for Shedden! |

So because he got tapped it gives him the right to deliberately ram Neal off? no. Always been the same and will as usual get away with it

Pass the popcorn, please.
For the record (and I've been following it online so haven't seen it yet) it sounds to me like they're both in the wrong. Both as bad as each other. |

Seems like the two are rather mellow about what happened. Then again, as Matt pointed out they've had too much history between them to be bitter.
And hello Mr Huff! |

Banger racers would be embarassed by that.
Still I'm sure the Chairman of the MSA will condone his "stars", AGAIN. |

Good result for Dave Newsham, hope he finds a better team for next year, as I doubt we will see ES Racing back in the BTCC.

If thousands of spectators pay to attend each event during the worst recession in years, and more watch live or recorded on telly... "if it ain't broke".
Not that I agree, but the purists amongst us don't count for much (and never really have). |

So, Plato and Neal were given a 'verbal reprimand' by the stewards. 'The lightest possible penalty' - in that it isn't really a penalty?
Ah, well, I don't mind. I thought Plato's return punt was a little heavy, but then I also think that Neal is talking nonsense when he says he thought there was a gap. Neither of them are particularly upset about the affair, going by the TV interviews, and they were the only ones who lost out. I've seen more worrying behaviour from the 'lesser' drivers - I might have been imagining it, but I seem to remember Mr James driving into about three cars in ten seconds in one race today. Next thing: the Insignia looks so much better now. Has it lost the green Thorney design permanently? Last thing: Shedden excluded from Race Three because of a boost limit infringement: http://www.touringcartimes.com/article.php?id=7962 [Joke about conspiracies against Honda or some such.] |
