Testing in NW England...

I'm looking to do some testing in the very near future (2 weeks or less), well - more like a few straight runs somewhere on tarmac so I can bed my brakes in and make sure my new pipe system works properly under pressure..

Does anyone know of a place in the North West of England where that sort of 'testing' can be done on the cheap? I'm not looking to pay MSV prices for a couple of sessions at Oulton, and my Wednesdays are quite busy in the next few weeks, so Mallory's out too.

Oh, the car's not road-legal, police patrol cars are frequent, and I value my licence, before anyone suggests it

You could also try Aintree.

There is supposedly a great Test Facility at the Truck plant in Leyland. They let it out, but you would have to contact them for details......

There is a test day on 28th May. I received these details.

If any drivers would be interested in a testing session or just track time in their cars we would make them very welcome.

Ta muchly! The test day at Aintree is a little past my 'window of opportunity', but I could try Leyland, Anglesey, and I might see if Vauxhall in Ellesmere Port have any bits of tarmac going spare late at night

Curborough (near Litchfield)? Can be very cheap to hire.

How about a short oval if it's just to test brakes out? I saw testing at Buxton a few weeks ago was a tenner!

Can you hire old Liverpool (Speke) airport?

It's now the John Lennon Airport and not available for hire unless you have 99 mates and want to blast along in a Boeing!

Wrong name probably - where did they hold Creamfields (it was a pop music festival for those over 40)?

How about trying to get onto Man United's car park?
Looks like there will be plenty of space there.

I think it needed a comma somewhere or "for those over 40, it's popular music festival"
