Is Lewis Losing the Plot?
I apologise if this has been discussed last year, but, despite being a fan of his driving style etc, I am beginning to wonder whether he has set himself up for a good kicking by Nico this year.
Even my wife, who enjoys her motorsport suggested that Lewis is believing his own hype. Martin Whitmarsh got it right in his recent interview when he suggested that Lewis would be a really good GP driver if he concentrated on his driving and not trying to be P.Diddy ! Follow his Instagram account for a few weeks and you see more of fashion shows, etc than in Vogue! Look what happened at the end of last season. He didn't bother for the last 4 GP's. Many people accused Mercedes of fixing the results to keep Nico happy but I actually think he took his eye off the ball. Would Prost or Senna have done that? No; they would have been ruthless to the end of the season. I could actually see Lewis rather than Nico being dispensed with and Bottas being put in his car ! Bottas is still very hungry for results etc, Look how focussed he is, even in the off season. Lewis; you have plenty of time after you finish your GP career to play pop star. Concentrate on the season and don't get distracted and your 4th title will come !!!!!!!!!!!

Lewis has had three world titles. And he doesn't want to wait til retirement to live the good life, he's lost years early in his career, he deserves to enjoy himself after his years of sacrifice. I think it must help him getting away from the stresses of racing. It's funny how people moan that there aren't characters in the sport, yet they complain til the cows come home when this happens

Everyone knows that to be a modern sports-person, and survive in this hard-arsed world. you have to be on it all the time. I would love to see Lewis win his 4th title.

The more I think about this, the more I think many are such hypocrites.
You want character and personality, yet you moan when he churns out the PR talk, and still moan when he does his thing. Sure, his 'thing' might be a country mile from yours, but you can't have your cake and eat it. Plus, can you imagine if James Hunt was around today, with Twitter, Instagram, Facebook...? I'm sure many would be quick to say how disinterested he seems with F1, how it's a joke that he's always drunk and more interested in women. Any celebrity, whether it's famous for doing nothing or famous for a sport, is under intense scrutiny under the microscope. That's something guys didn't have to deal with in the old'un days! Plus, we do love our rose tints, don't we..? Food for thought. Selby |

obviously a couple of concerns with the opening post!
a)recent interview with Whitmarsh?....i thought Ron had him killed years ago. b) given that this was a recent interview, surely Whitmarsh could have come up with someone more contemporary then P.Diddy. the only conclusion i can draw from these two observations is that the gents at Woking have created some sort of Whitmarsh replicant that is now trapped inside of a 1995 memory of an argument it had with a ten year old LH about taking down all off the Puff Daddy posters before Ron got home.

i really don't want to play the race card, but i do wonder sometimes if he was a white lad living the life in that context everyone would be more comfortable with his lifestyle. all you see on bitter moaning internet posts (granted, not this one) is references to his 'rapper' habits... but wait! he's going to fashion shows, works out, chills with models and enjoys his music. he sings and plays the piano. what's 'rapper' about that? isn't it a bit more taylor swift?
 after all, jenson button is having a go on a playboy model at the moment, i don't see anyone wondering if he's letting his lifestyle get in the way of his racing, and his results have been shocking recently /end provocative post

Jenson isn't being thrown out of casinos and taking selfies whilst riding motorbikes either. :P
Anyway, as long Lewis performs, this will go away. It's only major news because there's no racing right now. He can act like a teenager all he wants, as long as he wins. |

Hamilton is subconsciously lazy, once he won the title he just settled back a little as he knew he was done. He has matured an awful lot in the last two years, which he needed to do. I hope he won't go back to his childish ways (like posting stupid selfies on a bike!) but time will tell.
He is the best driver on the grid and Rosberg wont be able to overturn him unless Hamilton lets his personal life obliterate his professional one (Hope he doesn't as I can't stand Rosberg!!  )

He's doing his thing, as a young single multi-millionaire with plenty of time on his hands. Will it bring him peace, joy, fulfilment and happiness? That's for him to decide himself, and no one else. Hopefully his real friends and family keep his feet on the ground.
He's been the better driver than his teammate over the last couple of years, and on previous results there is no doubting his driving credentials despite what Whitmarsh or anyone else says. Saying Senna or Prost would never do that is irrelevant. Different drivers from different backgrounds from different eras. |

honestly, it's always the same old nonsense that gets dragged out trying to make the same old point that really isn't valid.
sometimes i do wonder what people think racing drivers in general do when they're not in the car. |

The difference between Hamilton and Hunt is that Lewis has been living this lifestyle for a number of years now, and it's not affected his racing.
Quite incredible that he comes into criticism for something that hasn't happened yet. |

Trouble is while James Hunt came across as 'a bit of a lad", Lewis comes across as a bit of a bit of a lad. |
