you can hear the track-speakers at UKW 87,7 MHz - but only in german language.

maybe a pdf from the organisators helps (in german again). there you see all the media-connections of the race including an app for the iPhone.

They has been live streaming all night for the last few years. Often only the pit straight camera though. Being on the other side of the world I've seen plenty of it at night lol

Cheers for those links

No Glickenhaus car this year, the reason, I don't know, but I suspect they reached the top last year, this year that car would have to be BoPed down, since a private one-off entry would not be allowed a better result because of complaints of the PRO teams fighting for the race.

I muted the german commentary and had RLM going instead. Perfect combination. Any word on whether Audi.tv will run again??

Something isn't wrong here (I was going to say), RLM covers ELMS on saturday, and then the N24 hours in Sunday! to Monday!

http://www.24h-rennen.de/uploads/med...h_Zeitplan.pdf

Is it holiday also on Europe (In addition to Spain), to have race on monday?

Last night I was taking a look at the combined Nurburgring lap times, pretty neat stuff.

Marc Lieb holds the overall record with a 8:04.471 at 2011 VLN 36. Thomas Mutch holds the race lap record with a 8:09.221 at 2012 VLN 44. Uwe Alzen's qualifying lap for the N24 last year of 8:18.382 had the fastest ever average speed at 183.315 km/h.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hAraaybHEOo
Here you can see Alzen's crazy lap last year

That on board lap is taken from the So Close film, which is a must-have for any Ring fan. I think it's also officially available on YouTube, but without all the extra's, of course. Still, it's worth to have the dvd or bluray.

Forecast is looking better again for Sunday. Light showers. Now, if only we can get that down to sunny...

Spa 24h will have more pro entries, I think. And they have McLaens.

Spa is awesome, but the Nordschleife is three times longer!

Interesting discussion about Nürburgring24 vs. Spa24.

I started this thread some years ago, and one of the reasons was that I found it difficult to find news about the Nürburgring24 and VLN in English. The event(s) was very German, but no so big outside Germany.

Both the VLN and the 24 hour race is getting more international, and is less "German" now, but I still think it has a way to go to become more "comercially interesting".

Of course the nature of the race/championship makes it a bit difficult comercially with so many cars. If my team win our class (SP3T), we will still be around 20th in the total, and will get very little exposure. Maybe we have done a much stronger race than a race-winning team in, say, the Italian GT Sprint Series, but since they have fewer cars everybody gets a lot more attention in the TV-broadcast etc. But I guess that's just how it is.

The name of the championship is also difficult. Do you know what VLN stands for, and have you ever tried to explain the name to a non-German?

For us it's difficult to explain Norwegian media what the VLN is, and that it is a good performance to win a class, but to be 20th among all the cars. It's easier for the media to understand and write about a guy who won a European Rallycross round.

I guess this could be a problem for teams from other nations as well, and I think it's a shame that VLN (and the 24 hour) doesn't get more attention in Autosport, for example. Other championships on lower levels gets much more attention in Autosport, and I think that's partly because the VLN is a bit difficult to "sell".

The truth is that both VLN and the 24 hour at the Nürburgring has one of the best starting grids in all of racing when you look at both drivers, teams and cars. The crowd and the track is also best in the world, and in my opinion better/bigger than the Spa24. But the Spa24 is more comercially interesting, I think.

I hope to the VLN also will try to make the championship bigger outside Germany in the future. Just look what IMG is doing with the European Rallycross Championship this season.

Best regards
Atle Gulbrandsen, who is not driving the 24 hour this year... Did the 24 hour seven years in a row, but just five VLN-races this season. Hope to be back in the big race next year. Good luck to all this weekend!

Why no Macca? Same reason as Nissan, no suspension developed for the Nordchleife?

Nissan is on the way to solve this:

For me the biggest problem with the N24h is the difficult to record the action (TV broadcast) in such a big track, and additionally the confusing or so different class system to the Spa 24h (two classes before) and now one GT3.

The best, the experimental class EX-P1.

The official N24 website should be streaming the race, it has been doing so for the last few years.
