There's maybe minor damage on the catch fencing next to the car, might have landed around there?

It looks further in than I was expecting; that's halfway around the corner after the jump, as far as I can tell, so I would guess (and sorry, because I shouldn't speculate) that it's not a case of getting airborne over the crest.

I could be wrong with that though, if anyone recognises the spot better than I.

Looks like some damage to the spectator catch fencing on the right of the picture.

Edit: see below.

Flugplatz.. The Nissan always had trouble with getting too much air under the car. This time it went bad.

Sounds like a Le Mans style flip crash then to have cleared the fence.

Is that a chair under the roof of the car?

I'm stunned. Repercussions can wait for another day. Today it's just sad to lose someone who stands on the same side of the fence to we who post on forums such as this.

Terrible news, will be hoping for the recovery of the others involved.

There is footage of the crash for those that wish to see it, but I won't be posting it or sending links to anyone. There will be time to talk about VLN races and the future of the 'Ring, but this is not it.

Horrific news. RIP to the deceased and I can only wish the injured a swift and full recovery.

The link could maybe be dropped for a while but it does not show anything grave.

More to the point, it does show what happens to the car and let's hope something can be learned from this, as thousands of laps have been done there by thousands of cars and numerous GTR's.

I do hope there is no knee jerk here, maybe a restriction to watching at Flugplatz but nothing more.

Motorsport is dangerous, even as a fan, we all know that.

Just like at Dakar, people die at Nordschleife every year so it's not really something unexpected or new. Speeds are rising too. But of course that won't change the tragedy that has happened here, sad for everyone concerned. RIP

No knee-jerk reactions ADAC and FIA, please. You should improve the FlugPlatz catch fencing and spectator areas thou
