Sorry Bella but that honour goes to Atte Mustonen in race 1.

The existing record by Charlie Kimball was 1m06.921 and Atte set a 1m06.827.

Rodolfo's fastest lap was 1m07.137, the fastest lap in race 2 but outside the old record. However it is still a good result for himself and TSport and a good indictation of his speed and that of the Mugen Honda.

It's not worth starting a separate thread, so this is off-topic, but there was an F3 test at Rockingham today/yesterday. Anyone who is interested can find the PDF file here.

Marko Asmer rediscovered whatever it was he lost at the weekend and was fastest in both sessions.

The National Class runners were thin on the ground, but T-Sport's (that's with a hypen) Sergio Garcia was fastest as usual using the control Mugen-Honda (also with a hyphen) engine. Ernesto Otero was back and looks likely to race at Croft.

It's known as the International Super Sports Car circuit and it's 1.94 miles long. It's not on their website, but basically there's a new chicane at Turn 4 to bring the cars back onto the oval, then they take Turn 1 flat and head off down to the hairpin. There should be some overtaking there..

This is the same circuit as British GT used last season and did provide plenty of overtaking opportunities.

The only difference between this circuit and the International circuit they used last time in 2003 is they don't go up to the top of the infield track and come back round 4, which allows them to bypass the chicane at Turn 1. The reason for this is the FIA ruling that cars are not allowed to use two banked corners in one lap except for the opening one.

Circuit layout here

That's not strictly accurate. When F3 last raced at Rockingham, no one could come up with the written version of the FIA rule.

If you think about it, Turn 4 would be the last corner of one lap and Turn 1 would be the first corner of the next lap, so I think the mystery rule actually says you can't have two banked turns in succession.

I hope Atte Mustonen visit Macau in November. He is just a super talent. Amazing how is hiding behind F3 veterans Jelley and kennard.

Getting back to Thruxton, I recorded the C4 programme this morning and just watched it. Highly entertaining. Race 2 was much more exciting on the telly than it appeared at the time!

Niall Breen is a quiet sort of chap, but he didn't quite have the hang of braking for the Complex. He took out himself and Seb Hohenthal in race 1, then delayed Stephen Jelley in race 2 whilst continuing himself to finish 2nd.

Thruxton is one of those circuits that doesn't have cameras to view the action live, so the Race Director has to rely on Observers' reports. If it's not too late, he should really revise the results of race 1 and maybe race 2 as well, due to drivers straight lining the Club chicane.

Martin Haven did a good job with the commentary, although I prefer it when he has Kelvin Burt there to make dry expert comments.

I'm a little behind and so currently watching the Silverstone races When is Thruxton repeated?

[Incidentally having seen the "top Spa bits" from the Silverstone race prog - what a start by Asmer!].

Go to the FOTA official site, all the TV times are on there.

Niall did seem to have breaking problems at the Complex, and Sam at the chicane.

RR seem to have starting problems, Carlin have stopping problems,
Hitech just keep getting points.

Certain drivers keep hitting others!

But its a great year with action every race!

Who said F3 is boring?

Completely agree; it was stunning, but also very controlled.

Excellent weekend for Guerrieri - 4th at Race 1! With the first TC2000 win of arch-rival López who is going to Monza next weekend, these are great news for Argie young drivers.

Thoroughly enjoyed both races on Motors TV yesterday. I don't think I could go back to the C4 25mins highlights again without feeling like I'm missing so much more action. The Motors TV 50+ mins highlights package is pretty good.

I couldn't agree more about Martin Haven's commentary, always entertaining. Burt's dry comments always cracks me up. Last year or maybe the year before that, in one of the races at Donington, a Brazilian driver (can't remember the name, may have been Senna) had a moment and managed to gather it all up. Martin then made a comment about said driver possibly waxing lyrical about the save later on. Mr. Burt then managed to work in a one liner about Brazilians and waxing which escapes me now but I remember at the time had me on the floor.
