Poor old Marc Hynes didn't do a very good job at the Nurburgring F3000 race - not even making the race and being second from last - overall in qualifying.

He had his usual list of drivers excuses -'boots to big' - 'weather too bad at the wrong time'

We've talked about the importance of being able to deliver when it counts, which is why Button and to a lesser degree, Pizzonia are in the positions they are today.

Marc had a shoot out for a Italian 3000 seat against Warren Hughes and blew that (more excuses), he has the lifeline of a F3000 seat in front of him and doesn't make the most of that.

Maybe he will get another chance and I am sure he is capable of doing a good job, but the people behind him must wish he could deliver when it counts. He can't ride on his F3 series win forever..

You don't get that many chances at this level - its make or break over the next few weeks - I reckon.....

Mind you Pizzonia's manager said recently that F3000 destroys more careers than it makes!

The problem with F3000 is, that you need to drive the cars completely differently compared with F3 and F1 cars... It has been said that FPA is the best preparation, oh dear..

It was only last season that all of the european F3 champions entered F3000, and not one of them qualified for the first round - and I think Kevin Mcgarrity was on pole.... something doesn't add up there!!!

I agree that there is a consitency problem within F3000. It seems unless you are with Super Nova/Petrobras or McLaren F3000 (whatever its called now) you are not going to be a consistent front runner.

Ironically this used to be the problem with F3 , in that it was so quirky and only two teams at anyone time were capable of winning.

This seems to have opened up a lot more over the last couple of years, but F3 has certainly altered a lot of drivers careers.

We've done the FPA thing B4 but to me that seems even more up the front one minute and at the back the next - than F3000.

I really feel a little bit sorry for Marc.
When you go on to win the F3 title, and can't even get another
F3 drive, and someone who finishes third behind you goes into F1!!
He has got to feel a litle bit ****ed off!
But, as has been said before, he is in this situation so HAS to
take any chance he can.
Good luck Marc
