i consider myself fairly well-versed in non-f1 single seater motorsport and even i haven't heard of some of these guys

nethertheless most of the top 10 are all recognisable and no slouches - i was expecting daniel mckenzie to be a bit closer to the pace, but then again considering his fr3.5 season, perhaps not. outpaced by hector hurst? afaik he's from formula renault barc?

was the weather dodgy or something?

Hector Hurst did compete in Formula Renault BARC in 2011 (and finished 13th in the standings). Alex Craven also appeared in Formula Renault BARC in 2009, before competing in BRSCC F3 in 2010 and the SPEED Euro Series this year (sharing with Robbie Kerr).

Great news: the series will use Yokohama tyres instead of Avons in 2012! The cars will also get carbon brakes (I'm not quite sure if it's a good or bad thing).

If it stops them driving over the top of one another it definitely is good!

After watching pretty much any other series, F2 cars do look painfully slow, so if the car is up to 2 secs per lap quicker as claimed this has to be good.

Could've sworn I saw Dr Palmer by the autosport stand smiling wrily as the award finalists were being interviewed lamenting the massive budgets needed for F3 and beyond! Wouldn't be surprised if a couple of them get signed up!

Yes you are right Chunterer; JP was there when the six finalists were being interviewed. Not sure how much luck he'll have though. Rowland & Lynn both had their deals done with Fortec for FR Euro & GB F3 before the McLaren young driver award competition even took place so neither were relying on the outcome. I hear Blomqvist is most likely to be GP3 bound & Bernstorf is looking to Euro F3. That just leaves poor relations Malvern & Zemperelli & while both have expressed an interest in F2 (Malvern did the Barcelona F2 test last month) I sadly don't think either have the funds.

Bacheta did well last year in the F2 races he did. Already a championship contender.

Do Motors have the rights for this season Jack?

Hi Jack, why will some be delayed?

I thought all of the Euro F3 Open / International GT Open races will be live? And apart from Silverstone, F2 will still guest each time?

the reason some will be delayed is that Motors TV have a commitment to showing the Albanian Dacia Sandero Cup, which gets first priority over FIA F2 anyday!

PS: I don't have a downer on the channel, infact it's pretty much my favourite channel, I just think some of the scheduling is... questionable.

Oh my goodness. So, at the moment it is Bacheta and Fontana half a lap ahead of Kralev with the others making Kralev look good which must take some doing

Let it die.

EDIT: Actually, that is a VERY good calendar. And the cars aren't bad. Not letting teams in just ruins it. And it should be renamed as Atlantics UK series.

Sorry for the OT but I don't get the reference on Atlantics... They didn't have that no-team system AFAIK, did they?

They look similar and are probably about the same speed. That's all.
