They've definitely been on record by stating their public goals on the low side for this year's 24 Hours. However, within the organization, I am sure their goals are a bit higher. But maybe not.

I agree, Audi said the same thing for the R10 at Sebring last year.

However, if Audi really was using Sebring as a test last year, why did they not continue to run the #1 car until it overheated?

I would also think that their goals are a little higher!
It really smacks of a CYA campaign, and if they do win it can be converted into an even bigger David and Goliath scenario.

The Peugeot could not be ready within 16 months, when they began the project.

There was a booth with some hats and shirts at Valencia and quite reasonably priced too.

Resurrecting this thread to note that Sebastien Bourdais confirmed tonight that Toro Rosso will not release him to drive Le Mans. The F1 team apparently has a test session at Barcelona so he can't go.

That sounds like a pretty weak excuse to stop him racing at LM.

ridiculous, he is from Le Mans and has a top shot at winning it. In Toro Rosso he'd be lucky to collect a point... don't they have test drivers???

Actually no, this year the team doesn't employ any test drivers.
