Gigawave enter NISMO car in FIA GT

from gigawave.com To check the performance of cars to be sold to racing teams competing in the FIA-GT1 class, a NISMO-developed car will run as a non-championship entry in 4 races in 2009, entered in a team partnership with Gigawave MotorSport. It is expected that the car is to be driven by Michael Krumm (NISMO) and Darren Turner (Gigawave). Gigawave MotorSport, a racing team based in county Essex, England, has been competing in the FIA GT Championship since 2007. The team’s parent company Gigawave Ltd., as an official partner of the FIA GT Championship, provides on-board cameras for real-time coverage of the races. Thats all fokes, |

Maybe adding: It's GT1 rules by FIA (or better Stephane Ratel). I don't think ACO has confirmed it will use these rules too.

What I want to know: Does that mean no DBR9? Or in addition to the Aston? Or will they run the Aston at the races the Nissan won't enter?

OK, now i'm sure there's an answer to this but i haven't found it. This car's engine capacity is below the 5.5l Ratel wants to define the top class, did this crazy system change at some point?
I'm getting annoyed with this. This car should be racing in whatever category the Porsches and Ferraris of the world are in, not the one above it. I only hope it's legal for ACO races too, it's good to see a new manufacturer entering and I hope their efforts won't go to waste for political reasons as BMW's are at risk of doing. |

I believe the FIA GT car is not using the production car's engine. If I remember correctly it's a roughly 5.0L naturally aspirated V8, similar to the Super GT car.

I wonder if Ratel knew about this when he announced his plans, or if he classified the car into GT1 based on the production version's engine size (multiplied with turbo factor of course)

with this car running with current gt1 and gt2 cars we will get an idea of performance, which I think is what the FIA want to do. Just thinking out loud here: I don't know what aero the car will be running, but if its times end up on par with gt2, nismo will have to adjust something to get the car where it needs to be for future gt1 regs. But maybe that would be eye opening and they would make the needed adjustments to run gt2. Again, i don't know if this car would in any way be able to make the gt2 regs, but it would be nice!

According to this site the engine is indeed a N/A 4.5 V8. However, it states it to be a Le Mans-spec car so I guess it's not the most authoritive source.
