There was a red one that ran at Le Mans wasn't there - long after the car's sell-by date had passed - or am I just imagining that?

That'll be a nice support race. A good Saturday morning sprint before the main course!
Wonder who we'll see driving them. |

Thanks for the link to the Pic Dani. I am so looking forward to the Gpc race. I've seen them there in the 80's, and twice in recent years supporting. They really should be invited to the LM classic now aswell IMHO.

Hope there will be a Rothmans and a Canon Porsche on the grid - beautiful liveries those cars had.

Which Brands 1000 was this? Came 3rd and 4th in 85. In 84 at the same race one was placed 7th, the other went out after c.150 laps. (Un)reliability of these cars does not stand up to statistical analysis. Look at number of entries by the Martini team and compare with number of finishes. Then strip out number of DNFs due to accidents / accident damage and you'll be surprised. By 1985 these cars were well sorted indeed. |

The Martini cars where the mutts, but I think it also looked good in the yellow/green. History has not been kind to these cars has it. When faced with the crushing Porsche werks, not many have faired better. MotorSport did a good review of the program a few years ago and cited many of the reasons the program did not work out. either way a very pretty car and a case of if only! |

Are there any other support races, or is it 'just' Group C?

I watched the 1982 1000km race from brands hatch at the weekend, if you like early group C racing and the Lancia, rothmans ford battles then I suggest you get a copy, absolutely brilliant race. It was a Rothmans publicity video, but had not only a brilliant race but interviews with some of the greatest sportscar drivers of all time.
