Pirelli World Challenge Rounds 6 & 7: Barber Motorsports Park

Barber Motorsports Park will see GT Rounds 6 and 7 this weekend, along with Rounds 5 and 6 for GTS.
Hopefully with the return to a natural terrain road course, we'll see some cleaner races than last weekend's at Long Beach.

It will be interesting to see which class Michael Lewis races in, he could be moved up to GT from GTA as a result of his two overall top 5 finishes this season.

This will be my first PWC race and my first visit to Barber. Does anyone who has been to Barber before have any suggestions of where to sit (I only have a general admission ticket)?

The grass hill between 11 and 12 allows you to see the most track
and seems to be the most popular spot. I hope to make it at some point
this weekend. Kinda waiting to see how much of a wash out Sat.
will be before deciding when to arrive. Sunday looking good so far.

You have a general admission AND a garage or paddock pass!

Mr. Falcons, myself, and another 10/10ther are making the trek from Greenville to Barber over the weekend, stopping at the mitty at Road Atlanta on Saturday. As of now, 100% of rain there, too. We'll be at Barber on Sunday by default.

10/10ths meet?

First time visiting for me. Rain gear is packed for Saturday but Sunday looks to be beautiful. Hopefully it isn't too bad on Saturday as I'll be taking photos.

I really hope that these two events will be on different weekends next year. I'd like to do both but with many commitments for this time of year, personally and professionally, I need to stay close to home:

http://tentenths.com/forum/showthread.php?t=144089

The Mitty it is for me, but hope that a purpose built course will give this series and these cars their due respect. And hoping for not a complete wash out of Saturday's affairs, at either circuit.

The GT-A races will be a lot more interesting now. The remaining GT-A drivers are all very evenly matched.

A sand incident like that in europe would not be a safety car. Either they keep green or go with the code 60 or 80

A backmarker.

As for that gravel trap, I'm not sure why you really need one there - all it does is ensure you have an SC every time someone visits that runoff!

Yeah I hope you see less gravel traps. COTA I don't think has any at all. In fact are they not like other tracks around the world where its actually all paved and the track is set by lines. Also VIR is just all grass.

Blancpain sprint runs fields of 16-20 cars just fine without too many problems and the racing is still excellant. The Norgaro round was great to watch. Maybe PWC grids need to be that size too? I hope TUSC in 2016 can pluck some cars/teams away for the good of both series.

Poor way to end the race, the Porsche got moving just as they put out the caution, better race, much better.

They went green again for one lap.

I feel anything under 20 is dangerously low for a stand-alone class... especially if you have more than one race per weekend. I think the sweet spot is somewhere in the mid-20s. That way you can lose a few cars but still have a solidly filled, though not overcrowded track.
