Lydden Test Day - 22 February 2014

Just spotted the 2014 Lydden calendar up on Facebook and I see there is a February test day again. As the first whiff of rallycross in 2014 I thought I'd give it a thread!

Obviously a few weeks off yet, but any of you guys planning to test?

Well let shope there is a Swift session or two as I am having it this year!

Fingers crossed. I did one session last year and really enjoyed it: though wished I'd have booked a half or whole day!

(I don't recall rain at last years test day: but it was bloody cold!)

I will definately look at a few sessions I think, best way to see if you like it or in my case just have a bloody good laugh!

Well Hawkes fire will be there in strength

I will be testing my SN 206 with the rebuilt engine and new radiator set up in the rear of the car so hopefully it will keep cool so i don't destroy my 4th engine

My Daughter will be out for her first test session as i bought her Aiden Hills Suzuki swift junior car so will need to get some time with her in her car so she can learn.

And we have another new car with Ash who is running a C2 S1600 if its finished in time

can not wait to get back out as the winter has been too long without driving

Im sure there will be a few cars there.

Definitely NOT the 1st whiff of Rallycross in 2014 as the 1st round of the BTRDA Clubmans Rallycross Championship takes place at the Blyton Circuit on February 9th.

Apologies. Brain fart on my part; for some reason I had March in my head for the start of the BTRDA. I actually had a text setting me straight yesterday!

The test day is the first whiff of rallycross down South: that's what I meant. Honest...

Is this a closed test just like the RX closed test last year? Would prefer a winter series at Lydden or a one off winter trophy that way we could see some racing. Expecting any Europeans?

Last year there was a closed test/RallycrossRX launch thing on the Friday, then an open test day on the Saturday.

I'm assuming this is the latter given that it is listed on the Lydden Facebook page.

The Swifts will be there, £49 per session as well as half and full day sessions. See their website for details and to book.

Bringing your own car will cost £100 per driver and you can pay on the day. It still irks me that it is per driver, and not per car. But there you go.

So I've been informed by the two parties.

I had a drive in the swifts last year, first time driving at lydden for 30 odd years took a month to get the smile of my face.

I (todd crooks) will be out on the 22nd in my cooper s supernational, and my team mate Steve will be having his first run in a new car as well.

It's not an event ive been to before, whats the format like?

Last year it was run in four lap sessions ,you could just line up and go out
as often as required, as the day went on you could have been going out none stop,numbers on the day will control waiting time but always had chance to do as many laps as required. (sometimes we were the only car on track !)

I was gutted I missed the beepers .*
Couldn't get there due to the trains kept being cancelled so didn't bother in the end.

Will definitely be there as I'm finally getting a car four years after passing my test so if you see someone weaving over the road it's me .


Have you got 5 million PLI?
Found out last week they changed it so quickly ran round getting it changed.


Thing to do if you can is fill out the application and email it over to the media guy, he probably won't reply but that's what I done and my pass is there to collect apparently.
