Mygale front mono/twin damper set up

I have a quick question! I'd like to know the pros and cons between the mono shock and twin damper set ups on 00/01/02 Mygale formula Fords. I'm looking at a few cars, in particular one with a mono set up and one with the twin set up. Any help would be much appreciated!

Mono-shock cars are often a lot stiffer at the front end and, therefore, their general handling trait is to understeer. If you can live with understeer then you won't have a problem whereas some people find it hideous.

Also, it can be more confusing getting your head around the damper/anti-roll bar setup on a mono car. I still haven't quite got to grips with it (I run a dual-shock VD).

You shouldn't suffer understeer if you set it up right. You still have a front and rear roll stiffness that you balance together just like a conventional car. If you want oversteer you can have that. If you want neutral you can have that. Depending on the car, you can have understeer, neutral and oversteer in the same corner on purpose!

Totally agree, we first used Mono shock in 1992 on the Van Diemen FF1600, and it was fantastic especially in the wet where the front was so positive, no understeer at all! We then used Mono shock when we ran Mygale chassis in British FF, the cars were amazing on the mono set up, and again more so in the wet!

Agreed - you shouldn't suffer from understeer.

I first used mono shock on a mygale back in 2001 and liked it almost instantly. I previously had a 2000 VD (twin shock) and the feel and feedback from the mono shock car was totally diffrerent, very predictable, very controllable in the wet or dry. I have stuck with mono ever since!
