Race seats question

Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum and about to embark on a bit of racing next season, and I'm just interested in finding out what are the best seats on the market?

Any help or advice would be much appreciated!

What for? Home-made foam seats for single seater? Kart seats? Cheap road car seats, full FIA spec rally seats with HANS features and lateral head support?

I'm sure we can help, but we need to narrow it down a little first

Also an idea of budget would be good - that helps to narrow down the list of possibles even further. Where you are in the world would help too.

Sorry to be a little vague, I'm new to this!

Am in the UK, and it is for a Formula Ford. I've got a maximum budget of about £350. Just interested in any recommendations you may have?

I've seen one advertised by Ray Mallock Racing on their website that looks good, do you know anything about this?

Thanks again!

rcarr has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
2 Pack mix up stuff for about £25 and the polystyrene bead type (F1 style) about £150-250, I think. Both available from Demon Tweeks.

My experience with two part foam seats left scars on my arse (no, really! It got REALLY hot... long story).

Anyway, we now use a GRP seat from URS (Universal Racing Services/Supplies) that was for a Van Diemen FFord I think. Fits me like a glove, weighs next to nothing (but maybe a few grammes more than a foam one), and is seriously comfy. Was about £40 iirc.

I've heard great things about Indi-Seat system (polystyrene balls in a vaccum with a resin), but they are quite expensive.

A lot of people use duct-tape for covering them, but if you can afford it I'd also recommend using nomex fabric instead!

Give Demon Tweeks a ring and have a chat about foam seats with them. Then see what URS have to say.

How odd! We've done it at least 5 times and never had a problem with burns.

We have done it in a plastic bin bag then tank tape it to the car. You could try a kart seat?

Like I say - long story. I think preheating the cans was the main mistake (it was a very cold day, and the instructions were very specific about the ambient temperature when mixing).

Perhaps you should try wearing your race suit next time (not your birthday suit)

Demon Tweaks are pretty expensive for this... and the amount of foam you get is the bear minimum and could do with being much bigger!
A much cheaper place is here:

http://www.cfsnet.co.uk/acatalog/CFS...Liquid_61.html

They also know a lot more about the foam so can give better advice (is my personal experience and opinion anyway).
