Piston Rings

All,

So I am rebuilding my engine and am stumbling over piston rings. There appear to be old and new pistons (not in the engine) and each takes different rings. I don't know if I have old or new pistons (think possibly new) but I am uncertain as to how many different piston designs there are and therefore which rings to order.

The pistons I have have 080245 cast into the inside surface of the skirt and also a symbol that looks like a K on top of an S (which I thought was Kolbenschmidt . . . who don't seem to me mentionned when it comes to FF1600 pistons). I am confident the pistons ARE correct and legal (the last rebuild was from a reputable engine man).

Any advice?

Jon
