Winter Jobs Thruxton

I have been asked to provide Pat with a list of jobs to be looked at over the winter at Thruxton.

Please send me your suggestions for things that could be looked at to improve things for the marshals at Thruxton. These can either by PM or on here.

Please bear in mind that any suggestions should be finanically viable and practicable.

He is already going to look at relocating the, or providing a new, shed at the observer's point at Post 9 and investigate improving the sight line between Posts 22 and 1.

If it can be done it will be seriously looked at. Last winter Post 3 flag point was relocated, long handle shovels provided for all posts and the sight line improved between Posts 17 and 18 as a result of a list given to him.

Firstly this is a cracking idea of Pat's and illustrates just how much better Thruxton has become with Pat and others at the helm. A lot of other circuits could learn from this truly excellent idea linking marshals and circuits .
At the moment my initial thoughts are at post 22 . Perhaps flag point could be moved a couple of yards up stream and raised by a couple of feet? This would help looking towards post 1 , the flaggies to see past post 20 and allow the drivers to see the flags a bit better. Perhaps a couple of permanent steps up to post 11 . And possibly making the flag position at post 20 a little higher to benefit marshals and drivers?
I'm quite happy marshalling at the other posts and the sheds are now waterproof and better than most around the country.
But thanks Thruxton and Pat for the opportunity to enter into discussions.
( do you want Armco round your chair and food at post 12 ,Norbert?)

Unless it's changed during the year, I would suggest post 19 needs some serious landscaping. Line of sight to post 18 is non-existent, as are viable escape routes should anything make it over the Armco.

Lighter flags, or trimming/shortening of existing flags' handles would be useful

The square metal tube for the hazard board pole needs emptying so that the pole can go in.

Ideally the tube would actually be moved as if there were a hazard board there it is an obstruction when flagging.

Not sure what the other posts hazard board holder and position are like but might be worth a general check at each post.

Post 12 could do with having a shed for putting the shed into.....

Post 9
Continuing the hazard board theme. There's no tube for it at post 9, had to wedge the board in the armco a few weeks ago.

I agree its great that Pat is involving us this way. How about putting a comments box and cards at Marshal sign on so that we can report these sort of minor items through out the year and include those who don't do t'internet? I reckon that would pick up a few comments at Sunday sign from things seen on the Saturday.

Sixteen also has no hole for the Hazard board nor a Safetycar board on a pole that can be planted in the ground.

Other than that, SMALLER FLAGS! I once took my hat clean off my head with some exuberant blue flagging as the cloth hit me in the back of the head!

Hi Guys,

I have passed on a collated list of suggestions to Pat. He will look seriously at all the suggestions and where possible will take action.
