Opes Prime

I know Opes Prime are a major benefactor to Australian motor racing so this doesn't look good.

I draw no other conclusions at this stage!

I'd expect it to go missing from the doors of the HSVDT car for the next round.

""The (Opes) directors appointed John Lindholm of Ferrier Hodgson as voluntary administrator when they became aware of a number of cash and stock movement irregularities in relation to a small number of accounts," Deloitte said."

Any ties to Leanne (Nee Ferrier)?

I wonder if some comments made about the gentleman who runs Opes on another thread where he was compared to Gore would change.

No, none.

Although TanderSport is a recipient of Opes Primes sponsorship, as is/was HSV Dealer Team, Marcus Zukanovic and just about every F3 team.

that was my worry - if it was a family member's company, it could get messy if it went into an ASIC investigation.

This makes the article on Opes Prime in the new Motorsport News look pretty stupid.

hasa abit of smell like Firepower did and since after the Winton test they have gone.

if Opes Prime go from HSV then they might be in a little bit of crap especially if the reports earlier in the year of Toll only being on the cars due to the merchandise thing so Toll are putting in minimal to no $ according to a the eNews that reported about the merchandise and that the Toll logo was to disappear later n the year, so if Auto Barn don't want to cover 2 cars HSV might be in a little striff trying to find a sponser mid season.

Yes, forgot about the Porsche. And the five F3 cars, the half interest in Conquest Racing and the sponsorship of Christian Jones Carrera Cup Asia campaign.

The timing of the MN article is unfortunate to say the least.

Conquest Racing will be thinking Walker/Gore al over again except they are further into the switch from champcar to joining the merged series.

Bad times for motorsport, or people in it being sponsored by Opes Prime (obviously going down), WPS (in the financial pages yesterday not looking good) and despite the back-patting references elsewhere the fact is DJR has liquidated its old company owning money around the place and industry companies will get a few cents in the dollar. Who next? Is motorsport in australia propped up by people who are barely liquid? PS; read the MN story too; unlucky timing but they werent to have known and were explaining who OP are, after all they seem to be everywhere in motorsport at the moment! or should that be they WERE in motorsport

My tip - never get a sponsorship package from a financial type company.

Stick to good ol booze or tobacco I say. Put the pressure on oil companies I say.

What about maccas sponsoring a car/team? gives new meaning to fast food.

HSV is not the team that will suffer most from this, they can survive without a major problem until another sponsor can be found. The ones that will suffer most from this a the smaller players who have pick up dollars from Opus, the Carrera and F3 teams.

Considering that OP actually bought 8 F3 chassis......... one wonders how strong that championship will look throughout the rest of the year.

Given that OP's sponsorships were to drive brand recognition in the lead-up to a public float of the group, I'd say their investment has been wasted...unfortunately.

OP came from nowhere to hero in the blink of an eye. If it looks to good to be true, it usually is.

It is interesting to look back, 12 months ago OP wasn't even on the radar, yet by Clipsal this year it seemed like every second car, more in some series had their logos on it.

The sad thing is that some hard working teams out there who thought all their christmas' had come at once are going to end up hurting. Not to mention those who work for OP itself.

From the Ferrier Hodgson website

http://www.ferrierhodgson.com.au/new...fm?objectID=89

Were the "National" class of F3 all sponsored by OP?

I don't remember seeing OP on Tander's car at Adelaide, and there is no mention of OP on the Tandersport website.

Sorry peckstar, I don't have any connection to Opes Prime.

It is a big shame for a lot of people to see them go though.
