Thruxton 2013 rounds 7-8-9

Well the circus rolls into the south this weekend, I am not aware of any additions or otherwise to the grid, so I assume its the same 27 car field as before. Has there been engine power alterations for this weekend?

I still don't fully understand how this engine power balancing is supposed to work. In fact, I don't understand it at all.

Alan = Alan Gow, BTCC's chairman.

There is a different turbo boost limit set for each different driver in the BTCC these days, which leaves a sour taste in the hardcore/"purist" fans" mouth, especially since those limits aren't publicly disclosed AFAIK.

No, it is for individual teams not drivers I believe. Personally, this year it sounds like the increments will be less, so it will be tiny differences which literally keep an equal blance.

Also, I count myself as a purist, and it doesn't leave a sour taste in my mouth, It challenges teams and drivers to keep pushing to the limit. Drivers will moan about anything, if it wasn't boost it would be RWD/FWD.

However, we have had a close, clean and competitve year for the first 2 rounds in 2013, which is surely what any purist would want...

It was car based in 2012, but IIRC it is driver based this year?

Not 100% sure, but I think it was car based in 2012 and now its team-based in 2013...?

Tim Harvey said everyone but the Hondas have been given some more boost.
Because, you know the first 6 races were COMPLETELY dominated by them finishing a lap ahead of the rest.

Team "Fix everything for Plato" working its magic for another year....

I'm guessing the Honda will be struggling in qualifying then. That reminds me, I must check the results.

Yeah, but Plato was right up with them when he had maximum ballast....

Which suggests race 2 is his for the taking once he gets the ballast off in race 1....

Bear in mind the changes that are made are absolutely tiny; no more ham-fisted changes which we allegedly saw in 2011/12.

I think we have to have a little bit more faith in ToCA; they are working with more detailed data than speed traps and race results, and they can obviously see who's who in terms of turbo.

Not sure if your comment is satire or if you legitimately believe that ToCA is conspiring in favour of KX Momentum 99 MoneyShop MatchTheDeal Silverline CityRover MG, but either way, I don't think it'll cause much of an issue.

Yes, but Jordan on pole despite 36kg of ballast AND boost increase for everyone else? That's the third successive Honda pole from qualifying, you know. Something has GOT to be done.

Isn't it a bit early for silly conspiracies, though?

More relevantly: I'm disappointed to see Mr Austin so far back. Out-qualified by some S2000 cars - anyone know what happened?

Well, that was an unfortunate qualifying session. We've found a broken component in the suspension that cost us huge time on corners.

Overall the adjustments made keep the racing close and we congratulate the authorities for that obviously fans of teams/cars will sometimes be upset but in general they do a good job

Love the hover-cam... there's a view of Thruxton you don't usually see (unless you're Plato arriving in the morning). I don't think the contact he had with Shedden was 'typical Plato', though. Looked a lot like Shedden moved back across, rather than Plato intentionally making a swipe.

Also: Team HARD on the podium (sore luck for Mr Jordan, of course). Interesting race.

'The corners' So, they had good pace... down the pit lane? Only bit of non-corner I can think of
