Sports cars are going better because they're attracting a few competitive drivers, which hasn't been the case for a while. Sure there's been some fast people in them, but they seemed to be in them more for the enjoyment than the out and out competition. Consequently, the times have improved whilst the cars are still fairly conventional. Nic's is interesting and effective, but it's basically a yacht with a good engine and an extraordinary driver. Some of the recent interest from such as Force could start to turn the tide, though, and I'd be very pleased to see this class gain numbers and strength. Sportscars always seem to please the crowds as they are, IMO, more attractive than single seaters. |

Ken never did anything to me, but only because I moved quickly! Do you know, we still get bits of that car out of the banking whenever we return after a bit of rain.
However, I suspect we're wandering a bit off topic, or I could just change the thread to hillclimb personalities, which I think describes both Willem and Ken...? |

I think that most people in hillclimbing could be described as a personality. Gracey with his rockets, pop Render with all his stories, it's almost a prerequisite for competing (and marshalling I might add)

Thread title now changed so that all the off-topic stuff is now on-topic. Feel free to continue the ramblings.

I've heard a rumour that Willem will be sharing the Pilbeam with David Grace this year. Aparently the first outing should be at Gurston Test day. Is this true?

Willem's newsletter suggested they were considering the possibility, so it wouldn't surprise me at all if it happens. That'll introduce another serious contender into the mix, and David's acknowledged set-up ability should help Willem find those last few tenths on a regular basis.

I take it by the way this thread has gone that Mr Grace is making a comeback this year?

It has been suggested that he might be, but there is no statement of fact. This is still officially an unfounded rumour.
