It seems to have the world's longest pit lane, but apart from that, I like it.

He comes down a straight, through some fast esses without missing a beat, then a short straight, and into a banked right-hander which appears out of nowhere. I'd love to know where that stretch of pavement is.
The track you describes almost sounds like Road Atlanta. But perhaps it is one of the old now-defunct Can-Am circuits...like Donnybrooke or Riverside.

No, I know all of those tracks... If it was _anywhere_ in the US, it wasn't on a race track, but on a proving grounds somewhere... There were no fences or armco anywhere in sight... The outside of the track was all prairie, with mountains in the distance. On a couple of posts marked the edge of the track, no barrier at all. The scenery looked far more European. Definitly wasn't any track I'd ever seen, though.

This sudden banking was harsh for a road course, at least 20 degrees. This was obviously testing footage rather than race, so it _could_ be at some private track for Porsche or Audi in Germany.

Donnybrooke, BTW, is still alive and well, it's just called Brainerd now. One of the few surviving tracks from those golden days of Trans-Am/Can-Am/USRRC/F5000.

I'll comment on all the new track designs tommorrow, too tired tonight.

There are some great tracks posted on here and there are some which are weird.

Not sure I like the one with the long pitlane. The pitlane needs to be shorter.

Chaynes, I think Harrington Park is your best track so far. I think the only changes I would make are to make the first turn tighter, increasing the possibility of overtaking there.

I'd also consider Devil's Bowl a different radius. Rather than an increasing radius turn, maybe either constant radius or decreasing radius. This would possibly increase the chance of a pass at that spot. Otherwise it's great.

This week's track is another rendering. You guys have already seen my A1-Ring revisions, this weeks is Aida. Now, as with A1-Ring, I don't know anything about the surroundings of this track, how much it would cost or if it would be physically possible.

With my track renderings, I like to keep the essence of the original track as much as possible.

At Aida, I have slightly extended the main straight, and tightened up the first corner to provide a better passing opportunity.

This is followed by a quick right-left to get back onto the current track, and to maintain Williams Corner (current turn 2) as is.

The fabulous esses remain completely intact.

I have lengthened the straight between the esses and the Attwood Curve hairpin. The new turn is also tighter. These measures enhance any passing opportunity at this spot.

The back straight and the hairpin are exactly the same.

I have slightly opened up Revolver Corner and Piper Corner to make them a little faster.

The biggest change to the track is the removal of the two hairpins before the run to the final turn. This section has been replaced by a fast esses section.

Mike Knight corner has been tightened ever so slightly, but it maintains its goodness. The Last Corner remains intact.

What do you think?

Glebelle Raceway features 2 definite passing zones - at turns 1 and 7.

Highlights of the lap, I think, are the flat-out left-right, turn 6 chicane, the fast, but decelerating turns 10-11-12 section, and the turns 13 & 14 esses section.

What are your thoughts?

*sigh* I know I said I'd comment on people's work, I've just been very chaotic lately.

But I did want to share this track. It's a possible CART/IMSA/Trans-Am venue thru the streets of Las Vegas.

The over-under section with the esses makes the track unrealistically long, but it's so cool I had to include it anyways.

It's in the heart of the city, running around several casinos.

Best run at night, under the bright city lights.

Just looking at it from a kinda realistic view, I would run just the left hand side (as you look at it - the longer section). I would run this clockwise, and cut it off at that little yellow bit of road, turn right there.

Of all of your street tracks Lee, I think this is probably your best.

I've seen some decent tracks here in this topic. Boundary bay looked good, but I'd take the first green route, then turn left, then right onto the second green , then right again to take the red route down the center. Then turn left there to use the main runway to a wide corner before the final hairpin area.

Mac's "Piper" was also a very interesting course, with some nice snaking sections and some quicker corners to go with some tight ones. It's be my pick at the moment.

So here's my addition: Valkyrie's Roost (A road for warriors)

The track is a high speed track with several sharp, hairpin corners. However, the majority of the circuit is fast, using slight blips in altitude heading into corners to make drivers play it safe until they're needing to overtake or build some time.

Dark Green is higher altitude, light green lower.
We'll start from the start, heading clockwise.

Away from the start, it's in a flat section. There's a slight kink to the left. In itself it's not a problem but that kink is followed by a brother and it's the trouble and first real corner (1). Why? At the speeds reached after 600metres from a quick chicane, it throws a car left where you want to be right into a slightly on-camber hairpin (2) that has 75 metres to a flat, opening radius corner that leads onto the second 580m stretch, with a fairly gentle corner (4) 1/3 the way down. This corner's not a real problem unless taken in touring cars where the somewhat gentle rise in altitude on the corner is more likely to unsettle. I can imagine bike rider's fearing this one. There's a second blip up in altitude about 330m from the next corner.

5 is on-camber, fairly wide to allow for later than planned braking / lockups. (5) Following that is a slow lefthander and this one's again on camber (6) and spitting cars out slightly downhill. Route B splits off not far away for a fairly narrow mountain esque winding road.

(7) is quick, on camber but needs a little braking in the slight curve before the actual corner and flows directly into a longer radius but only slightly on camber and so equally quick right. It's fairly flat across here with only slight altitude loss from the slight curve leading into 7.

TRADEMARK - Turn (8)
Turn 8 is an open corner. It's a skidpan with a clearly marked exit, and relies entirely on the driver to pick an exit line int a exit that is coming back towards their entry in angle. Go straight for the curbing, brake hard, turn in, pull away? Or run wider to get more speed up for the winding uphill run? You haven't got a guide for this journey...

The exit is fairly wide and narrows a bit to normal racing width. Turn 9 is preceeded by slightly wavy flat road, but just as you hit the on camber 9, it rises and the corner is deceptively quick. The camber's about 5 degrees and the rise is about 4 feet over 20 metres. Before you know it you're shooting under the bridge well overhead and rising, towards another on camber rising corner. However, you know you have to brake for it, as it's sharper but slightly blind as the inside is chopped away cliff edge. It flattens out and you're on the brakes exiting (10) because 11's a place where you can easily be overtaken. On camber to 6 degrees, wide and rising. (11) is one that's got to be planned for. Drivers will love shooting through 9, be frustrated by not getting 10 right because it can make or break 11, which leads onto (12) and it's just a case of a nice increasing altitude (though slightly variable gradiant, starting out with the same slight rise as 11 but increasing gradiant as the climb continues towards the most awesome hairpin in motorsport. Facing up to the sky and stadium ahead, Valkyrie's Nest is a slight (1.5 degree) on camber harpin that you go into uphill and leave downhill. Having survived that corner, it's a short blat down to turn (14), quick and slight camber with a clean, flattening out entry and wide road to the bride, which is another unusual point. The leadup to the bridge from 14 is only slightly downhill, but just approaching it, last 50 metres, it starts to pick up steepness so the bridge in an F1 car isn't visable really until you're approaching, and it's throwing you down into 'Descent' (15) at a ferocious pace which is a camber change to 9 degrees, basically a banked corner with no gradiant change, but downhill. The road only flattens out once the corner is finished. Driver's will feel wierd through all that.

A standard, 4 degree camber sweep on 16 needing a little braking on slower cars. F1's... they should be good but on the brakes as soon as they're out of it. (17) is widened heading into it and is sharp left and opens up to the same width road. The road rises a little here, and loses a bit through 18 which is fairly quick, leaving plenty of time to brake for (19), which gains altitude towards the exit.

From here, (19 - 24) the roads are all fairly twisty but quick and have undulations in altitude. (19.5) I forgot to label. It's the right hander that is dropped into from 19's exit. But it's a cakewalk compared to the nasty sweeper that drops altitude halfway around. (21) is simple after that. Shoot through 22-23 which is a simple S series over some undulations in height, enough to keep it interesting but able to be taken flat in F1's, and leads into 24 which is a cross between a tight S and fairly shallow chicane. This allows a bit of speed to be kept on exit for the straight.

The best corner on the road is (15) which isn't the fastest but is fairly sharp but banked and will be accelerated through hard. Think a sharper downhill equivelant to 130R with more banking. There should also be sand on the high side of it.
(8) is the hardest to take fast as a single corner, and is a spectacle MADE for overtaking either in the braking towards the corner, or on the straight following as someone goes a little wider to grab that extra few klicks
The leadup to Valkyrie Nest is dominated by corner 10. Braking too early to be cautious and your down until the roost. Too late and you won't have the right line to take (11) at the right speed. Valkyrie Nest itself is there for spectators and drivers, and the view from that area is brilliant.

Route B is fun for clubman cars and motorbikes.
I 'll revise it with suggestions. One of which might be to follow up 15 very shortly with a lefthand 16 which directs the track at where 18 is. That corner would be another lefthander throwing a very very fast car right an 19's uphill braking, great for that big dive under brakes.

Interesting track, not sure I like the bit after the start line. Think it needs a proper turn.

Whats the skid pan about? Too dangerous for a racing track!

I have been working on some names for the corners on my Earlstrees track. I have added number to the pic, but they are not that well done.

Corners:

1. Manton
2. Bandion
3. Burkitt
4. Bardsley
5. DuBois Chicane
6. Turco
7. Spirol A
8. Ladyrinth
9. Caswell
10. Godwin
11. Sterling
12. Spirol B
13. Rannock

The track is suitable to host Formula 3, touring cars and sportscars (like ALMS). Comments on the track would be nice

I have heard that a track will be built near Istanbul, "or however the hell you spell it", for the 2005 season. Nothing formal as of yet that I have heard, but looks like the case none the less.

Okay, here's my new one... This is based in the Chicago suburb of McCook, to the southwest of the city, but still pretty much in the metro area. It's a full-time road course and drag strip. The site I've chosen was until recently occupied by the GM Electromotive locomotive factory. But they moved the production to Canada, and demolished the beautiful old brick factory.

The local residents across the street to the west are shielded from noise by putting the drag strip and club course over by the commercial and industrial property to the east, and also by trees. A large depression in the property will be filled with water to create an artificial lake, providing public recreation space, while the rest of the property, with it's trees and grass, will provide much-needed greenspace.

And guess what? I finally got to use one of my existing designs for something! The shape of the property and relative flatness made it perfect for this track layout. Facilities should be suitable for NHRA, ALMS, or CART.

The track runs counter-clockwise, and is almost totally flat except for the banked turn 1, which is, of course, a carbon copy of the original Peraltada in Mexico City, one of my all-time favorite corners.
