Darren manning has been withdrawn from the Chevy 500 at Texas due to the injuries he sustained at Fontana...

Team Ganassi will not replace him in the car, so don't make him part of your picks....

They feel it is better to be safe than sorry in this case, and that "he has nothing to prove" by running and will be back in 2005

It is now almost 11 a.m. in Texas....the entries are now closed for Picks...

Thanks to everyone for a fun year, and GOOD LUCK to all!!!

To Luke:

Consider this to be your "Rookie Orientation Program" that will set you up for a "Full-Time Ride" during the 2005 Season in our "Pick 'Em's" contest....

and finally,

To Down F0rce, marcus, and GP Racer:

May the "best man's picks" win 2nd place this weekend!

I can't say "May the Best Man Win," because you're all eaqually good men, adn there is no way I could ever have picks decide who is the "best" of you...

Luke, you might want to change one of your picks - Greg Ray won't be racing after all.

You can simply put that change into a simple post in this thread, and I'll make the chnges on the "score Sheets" that I have already printed out and takne home so that I can get results posted on Monday for everyone...I'll croos his name off of your score sheet and write your selection on there myself so I can give you and accurate point total when I do my tallying Sunday evening...

Here are the Contest Results from the weekend:

No one picked Castroneves for the Pole,

Tim N. was closest to the actual Pole Speed of 215.996

On the "Top Three Rows," sicne Luke is new to the game, I mjust want to review how we have awarded points in this section when situations like we had this past weekend have occurred....First, if a driver actuall posts a qualifying speed, but is sent back to the back of the field, I count his original speed and place on the original gridd and award points accordingly....but to be fair, I also award points to people who had picks that should get points in the revised "actual starting grid....

Thus, anyone who picked Scheckter in the top six earned points...If you had Hornis in 2nd or 3rd, you got two poijts, Meira in 3rd or 4tth, you got 2, etc...Even though Herta did not qualify in the original top six, he started in 6th, so any picks that had Herta in the top 6 also earned points....

Marcus, Down FOrce, Drewdawg, Flavinha, and Luke all had 3 of the top six selections....Downforce got 2 pts. for Meira in the 4th spot, and Flavinha got 2 pts. for Hornish in the 3rd spot, so thosw two had 4 pts. in that category....

Keeping with that point philosphy, no one had Giaffone as the slowest qualifier, and I would've ginen points for Bell as well, since he was the actual last car on the grid...

No one had Meira as the Top Honda, all but GP Racer and Flavinha had Castroneves as the Top Toyota for 2 pts each, and Everyone earned 2 points for the Top Chevy, because Scheckter set the actual top Chevy speed, but when Tomas and Bell got moved to the back, the top Chevy on the grid was Barron...

Points after Qualifying:

1. Tim N -- 8 pts.
(tie) Down F0rce -- 8 pts.
3.Marcus -- 7 pts.
(tie) Drewdawg -- 7 pts.
(tie) Luke -- 7 pts.
6. Flavinha -- 6 pts.
7. GP Racer -- 3 pts.

RACE Portion of the Contest:

No one had Helio as the winner

Tim N. and Marcus had 4 of the Top Five, and Marcus had Wheldon and Meira in the correct spots for 6 pts. Tim had Kanaan in 2nd plus 3 others to give him 5, and others had three or less correct picks, but Drewdawg, Down Force and GP Racer also had Kanaan in 2nd to get the extra point for the correct selection in this category.

No one had Herta as the fast lap, and Flavinha picked clostest to the actual fast lap speed of 214.923...NOTE. I played it "safe" and changed my fast lap spped to a lower number before he entered his picks or I would ahve taken that...stupid move, Tim!!!

No one earned points in the "Milestones" sections, and the actual leaders at those marks were Castroneves at 50 laps, Fernandez at 100, Hornish at 150, and Castroneves at 200 laps.

Tim N. was the only person to pick Carpenter as the 1st out of the race.

No one had Bell as the "Mover" (21st -9th) or Rice as the "Fall From Grace" (4th - 20th)...

Tim N. was closest to the "Average Speed" for the race, which was 158.397

Totals for the TEXAS II Contest:

1. Tim N. -- 17 pts.
2. Marcus -- 13 pts.
3. Down F0rce -- 11 pts.
(tie) Flavinha -- 11 pts.
(tie) Drewdawg -- 11 pts.
6. Luke -- 9 pts.
7 GP Racer -- 7 pts.

I'll post the Season Totals in a minute

Thanks again Tim.

Just so that you know, I did credit you for Scheckter as the "Top Chevy" qualifier...as a matter of fact. everyone ended up earning two points in that category, becuase the two people who did not have Tomas in their picks had Barron, and he was the top Chevy on the starting grid after Tomas and Bell wore moved to the back....

I look forward to having you back for the full season, Luke...

BTW...we didn't start this contest until Indy this year, so we'll have a lot more Picks to make next season...
