Disabled Parking and Access
It's possible that our group will be joined next year by a Le Mans debutant who has some limitations as to his mobility. Being LM regulars we've picked up some info along the way from simple observation but we could do with some advice regarding parking in particular. The initial thought is that Parking Vert might be appropriate but we know there are some disabled parking spaces actually inside the circuit, e.g. at the back of the food and shopping stalls behind the grandstands. Does anyone know if it's possible to get hold of one of these? Parking inside would be really useful as there may be a mobility buggy involved.....
(I should add, as he will be with us, camping advice won't be needed..... ) |

As far as i am aware the you need a pass to get the car in there even if you have a disabled sticker, depending on the disability you can get free enterance but Kevin has never bothered, however we have used his pass to get better parking around the town/circuit.
As for a buggy it will be hard to get around with those better i think to use a light weight wheel chair |

If you can't get a good parking is there an option to drop off some at the main gate and others park up? It's often mad at the main gate, but there seems like people do drop off there?

Simon - we do have some experience with other 'associates' who have both brought buggies and seemed to manage OK. The 'newbie' isn't completely wheelchair bound but would struggle from our preferred parking in blanc.
Adam - that sounds like it could be the best bet. |

Parking Rouge could work. It's generally hard standing, don't know but with a disabled badge you may get reasonably close to the actual entrance, the entrance to the circuit drops you in in easy striking distance of the Dunlop Bridge so may offer some reasonably good options for you.

I agree a buggy will get him around some area's but they are big and heavy and some area's will be inaccessible, a lightweight chair can allow access to some places that we can all get to and therefore make the whole experience better, the best thing would be to try both in the lead up to the race and then he can choose what to use on the race days

What about contacting a larger camping group at Maison Blanche, to hear of the possibility to rent a single camping ticket?
If the camping group is big enough, they have probably bought tickets for space not for the number of cars, and hopefully have a surplus. Considering the nature of the issue, someone should be generous enough. |
