the old guard would be the likes of Neal, Plato and Collard . Jeff Smith and Warren Scott also quite senior if they go the "new " old guard would be the likes of Shedden and Mat Jackson |

When you look at guys like Whorton-Eales and Thompson or Strandberg who have tested with teams (and Stuart Lines has been very open about switching to a younger/faster driver) + the likes of Lloyd whom I have no doubt will be back. The future is looking very very good in terms of driving talent.

Yes there is no doubt the future is bright for the BTCC, I reckon those names could still be in the series in 10 years time

Whenever I hear the name "Whorton-Eales", it just makes me think of Chorlton and the Wheelies. It may be an age thing.

Any person who wants to go pick a winner for the first race of the weekend? I love the way it is a very close battle for the first place this year and I have to say that the first race of the weekend is going to be a good one

Top 5 on the grid looks very tasty to me!
Shame for Jordan there, in championship contention but that makes things difficult. Great to see Scott and Cole so close to Plato. |

I was out all day yesterday, so I'm just catching up. Can't believe that's Shedden's first pole in 3 years! That's crazy.
Liking Aron Smith's livery a lot, I wonder when (or if) BKR will switch the full RML kit as that would make a massive difference to them - and we know he has pace. Pleased for Hunter scoring a career best qualifying after the funding issues he apparently had. He's a good driver, I've no doubt about that, but he finally appears to be getting street smart. That's before we go to the Rock' too which is usually his strongest track. Poor qualifying from Tordoff, in fact all the RWD drive cars (with the exception of Turkington) looked like they struggled. Just 2 in the top 10 - must be a FWD advantage |

Was that shove from Zamparelli in the PCCGB race as ridiculous as it looked in real life?

Low ballast RWD drive car, with best RWD driver and big budget in winning shock!
That was a terrific move from Plato on Ingram |

Fastest lap - Hunter Abbott 1:58:186, almost half a second quicker than Turkington's best. Looks like the new GM/Toca unit will be very quick.

Anybody got a better view of the goings on there then? Looks like some very hefty damage on Dan Welch's Proton, can't help but fear for his future in the series if it's as bad as it looks on the (fairly poor) TV pictures.

That wasn't touring car racing from Warren Scott, he aimed for AJ!!! And someone has been paying Adam Morgan to remove Shedden from race 2!!!
As for the pile-up, I really fear for some of those guys, Welch in particular, whilst I feel we will have a depleted grid for the final race today and there could be a couple missing from Knockhill. |

The driving standards since the restart have been ropey in the extreme. Crazy stuff from Scott on Jordan, and Morgan seemed intent on punting off Shedden at all costs.
Fantastic move by Neal on Morgan however, a rare chink of quality driving in a race which has resembled a demolition derby at times. I think we'll see a few teams missing Knockhill after the damage today...that's before you even start of R3 Edit: Glad that settled down. Fantastic battle between Neal and Collard - really enjoyed that, although I'd be lying if I said the major damage suffered to Dan Welch hasn't ruined my enjoyment of the weekend. Absolutely gutted for him - he must've done something horrendous in a previous life to earn the luck he's endured. At the rate people were dropping out I could've jumped on my bicycle and scored a point! Me thinks the penalty list today might be quite long - I suspect Adam Morgan will get a bit of a hammering for the contact with Shedden and Scott with Shedden. Congratulations to Mat Jackson, in all the chaos I sort of forgot about him and Turkington! Last edited by 850Estate; 31 Jul 2016 at 14:12. |
