The 2012 F1 CAR LAUNCH THREAD
I thought that it might be a good idea to have a thread dedicated to the upcoming F1 car launches.

5 Feb - Lotus F1 team (Online)
Caterham released 'teaser' pictures of their car on the 26th of January, and then launched the car proper in F1 Racing magazine. |

Sky have said that they will be covering all the launches on their F1 channel?

I'm looking forward to the new McLaren and its 'controversial' design. I am glad they are going down the aggressive route in terms as design as they may as well be daring and fail whereas stay conservative in design and also fail IMO. I have seen some 'impressions' and they sure do look different to the norm. I just hope the don't end up with a platypus nose!

It looks....unremarkable. No doubt it'll have a stepped nose by the time it gets to Melbourne.

They wont have the bump nose, this car is basically playing on the strong points of the 26. Whitmarsh says this and that the aero package will be different. Don't expect the nose of the GATORham though, as this nose is completely legal.

It's certainly more 'evolution' than 'revolution'. But I suppose that we haven't seen the finished article yet.
Ferrari have certainly gone down a different route with their car. It would seem that the crash structure and the side-pods are now two separate items on that car! |

Are the mirrors mounted higher on the body or is the body line just lower this year? Also seems to be as clean a design as I've seen in a long time.

And I think that is fine Scott, but I think the car that we will see at Australia will be a bit different to say the least..
