peckstar has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
Next-generation MARC Car to debut in B12 Hr

interesting that the new invitational minimum lap time has dropped to 2.06s

would think this could means they would be chasing top ten finishes with the right driver combo. Depending on Safety cars could also win it

Top ten certainly feasible but to win outright? I highly doubt that. Not a slight on the Marc guys as Im a fan of their work but no amount of safety cars is going to get them past all the Pro lineups destined to be in the race in February.

Bit of luck, staying out of trouble and good driving could see a car finish top ten but I think you're living in a bit of a fantasy world if you think they could win-even with the help of the safety car.

car that finished 4th this year had a best lap of 2.06.33. 1 lap down. so top ten is certainly on

From memory the previous version do less pit stops than GT3, although would expect these to have to do more

If you can stay on the lead lap with safety cars then you are every chance to win come the end, but yes would require luck and would need some decent drivers to keep circulating around 2.06

Last year the MARCs were around the Class B porsche speed, but these will be a fair bit faster . should lap the Gt4s multiple times

Twigg, D’Alberto, Baird for STM AMG

Multi car attempt from STM, last year they had a big name car racing in Pro, wonder if that will happen again this year

Multi STM team is promising. I wonder if HTP will return independently or as part of a STM approach.

Pretty quiet so far outside of the MARC announcement and the Jamie Augustine Viper and Corvette.

With the development of the event - one thing I do miss is the invitational manufacturer entrants like Peugeot in 2013 and FIAT in 2014. That was a great element of the race

but the advantage is now you get a 6 hour production race for them to attend and a much more significant Gt3 field to watch in the 12 hour

everyone wins

The Peugeot car would not be eligible for the Bathurst 6 Hours.

Agree though - the 6 Hour in addition to the 12 Hour has been great for Australian motorsport and fans

Are TCR a production vehicle? would be more than double the price of most of the cars competing!

and 5-10 seconds a lap quicker

Strakka Bathurst Lineup

Latest teaser from Strakka re- driver lineup: "Two of the three cars are already filled for both championships, we are planning a separate announcement about drivers before Christmas. We will have two Mercedes-AMG factory drivers competing in both the Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup and the Intercontinental GT Challenge."

Anyone with better background knowledge than me have any idea who the drivers are likely to be for Bathurst?

Reasonable guess would be Johnny Kane, Danny Watts, Lewis Williamson and if HTP don't come, maybe Bernd Schneider?

Paul Dalla Lana has expressed his interest in returning to Bathurst again for 2018 - so will be interesting to see if he returns in a Strakka AM car or a HTP line up.

No

TCR cars are eligible for the 12hr in the Invitation class, a few were touted for the 2017 12hr (as a pre-curser to an Aussie TCR series but some politics have seemingly gotten in the way) but none showed.

Maro Engel has a more important race series to attend on that weekend- Formula E. Mercedes value that above B12hr so he will be missing Bathurst.

No if's no buts

The 6hr production car rules have a cost cap - although this applies to the base model of car.

What makes TCR ineligible is the number racing parts fitted to make one which are in excess of the modifications allowed under the Production car rules.

Aero being one such area of excess.

Porsche to return to Bathurst in 2018.

The German manufacturer has assigned its factory drivers Dirk Werner, Romain Dumas and Fred Makowiecki to contest the four-round Intercontinental championship which commences at Mt Panorama in February.

Application to marshal accepted, seems there's going to be up to a dozen Brits down under for this one. If you hear a Pom accent, say hello.

Can't begin to say how excited I am for this.
