Lets just hope we don't end up with the situation that was too regular at Oran Park (RIP) where two race meetings were held at the same time (Karts and Cars). Everyone looses in that case.

Yeah I wasn't a big fan of the South Circuit.
The larger part of the split circuit looks like it would be a good drive though, let's hope they get the turn 4 to turn 9 link right, I'm thinking dogleg |

Did anyone go out to E Creek today? From Natsoft I am assuming this is the first meeting utilising the "North" Circuit.

Yes - the final round of the NSW State Motor Race Championship is the inaugural event on the new North Circuit.
Saturday worked well, especially once drivers understood that there were penalties for all wheels over the track delineator on driver's right going through the new crossover section between Turns 4 and 9. The change has meant that entry speeds are higher going into Turn 10; which has meant drivers are learning new braking points on approach. Also, there did seem to be a few more "offs" at Turn 11 as a result of higher speeds through Turn 10. All up; a good start for the new circuit. Look forward to additional feedback after Sunday's runs. Well done ARDC - and the sooner we get all the changes finished then the sooner we can see some "clubbie" action on the new South Circuit. Keep on revving! |

A quick clarification on my earlier post. This weekend was the final round of the season for the NSW State Motor Race Chanpionship at Eastern Creek; the final round of the Championship itself will be held at Wakefield Park.
Sunday went well on the new circuit and there was plenty of positive feedback from the drivers in various categories. As an indication of the speed changes approaching Turn 10 the Production Tourers used to arrive via the hairpin at Turn 9 at approx 160, whilst using the correct lines through the new crossover between Turns 4 and 9 gives an arrival speed at Turn 10 of approx 180 - but if people use the full width in the crossover, as they did in Friday's private practice, then they arrive at Turn 10 at approx 200. Overall, very positive - and it will be interesting to see how everybody adjusts to the new North Circuit over the next few months. |

Work is still progressing on the upgrades.
The HSRCA race meeting at the end of November will be the last event on the original full circuit as in December there will be work starting around the Corporate Hill area to bring the new South Circuit to completion and finalise the new full circuit. Hope the weather holds up so that the work can be completed without disruption. Well done to Steve Hogan, Circuit Operations Manager, and his team for coordinating work with the contractors - especially as much was done overnight to minimise disruption to daytime activities. More news as the works progress. |

yes, that footage was nothing short of comical. What a goat... footage like that should make CAMS review licencing standards. But the track looks great, that fast new flip flop section looks great fun... |

This is not correct.The original circuit will still be used for many meetings.There will be some occassions when the 2 circuits will be used concurrently and a few times when the 4.5k combined circuit will be used.

"As part of the $9 million worth of upgrades currently being undertaken at the venue, the right-hand kink at the back of Corporate Hill, known as Turn 6, has been removed. The change has been made in order to allow overtaking at the following left-hand Turn 7, and represents the first alteration to the 3.9km Grand Prix circuit since it was built in 1990." Apologies if I have ruined your fun Shane and Jeff |

Are these upgrades being done along the lines of the revised (non-F1) Apex Circuit Design plans?
Thankfully, it looks like the existing layout should see rather minimal revision; if the layout I've seen is right, then the new loop just sticks off the side of the existing course. |

I think a key to a great race track is undulation;
What did we all love about Oran Park: the dogleg & up and over the bridge. What do we love about Bathurst: Up and over the hill. Nordschleife, Spa, etc all have plenty of undulation. |
