Yup, jump starts, black flags etc appear on the screens. They may well have been about to do it when he came in.

i heard the cars were running different chips this weekend too take a couple of hundred off the rev limiter, was this the case? if so was a there a notable difference in car performance? i've noticed the pace was about a second slower & a couple of mph down in the speeed traps over the winter times, was that just down to different conditions?

I thought most nose cones were filled with expanded foam or lead pellets

Ian, Jamie (Morow) had an engine blow (which Renault refused to pay for) following 3 over revs in the 8050 to 8150 range. However, if the drivers are not in the upper 7,000's then their deemed not to be pushing enough, so it's a very fine line between pushing and getting a big bill. Perhaps that's why some of the teams are adjusting the rev limiter.

Ian,

I wasn't saying you are wrong. What I meant was as the margin for error is so small, perhaps R sport have decided to reduce the max revs on rev limiters accross the board to prevent more engines blowing. It would be interesting to get a comment from someone at Renault or one of the teams.

Has anyone been at Croft for the FR testing? If yes, does anyone know why the times were so slow, compared to the April pre-season testing. Also, any explanation as to why there were no Hillspeed cars out?

Could be something to do with the heat? (The lap times rather than why Hillspeed weren't there).

Ian - Buurman had the fastest time of 1.16.84 back in April, which compares to yesterdays best of 1.18.33. A higher temperature is the logical explanation.

It certainly was stinkingly hot yesterday. I'm off up there in a couple of hours, praying more comfortable temperatures in the sensible north!

Speaking as sensible Yorkshireman, hear, hear. Shame we have to come down to the South to take all the top jobs and generally keep the economy going!!! (He lights blue fuse and retires to wait for the big bang).

Speaking as an even more sensible Lancashire man, a lot of truth here!

I came down to the South East 20 years ago as an Industrial Missionary. I swore I would go back North once they could sustain themselves down here but it hasn't happened yet!!

It looks like a numberless Burdett FRUK car, but it's got the BARC logo just behind the front wheel and I don't recognise the helmet... so, I don't know, probably.

The only problem with Yorkshire is that it's above water
