Hmmm, headline writers - let's not let the truth get in the way of a good story.

Whilst 200 litres an hour is not great, it's hardly going to sink a 65000 tonne warship with hundreds of sub-divided water tight compartments.

My thoughts exactly when I heard the "news". It's barely enough to cause an issue with a bilge pump.

Definitely a local thing, I think, Mike - I've never heard the term either, despite a couple of my mates having the Mk1 Capri V6 - used, surprisingly enough, as a road rally car........

Your name, and a few other tenthers, came up in conversation today with Allan Weyman, as we had a beer together after I'd picked him up at Tenerife airport when he arrived for a Christmas cruise.....

For some reason he appeared on my list of Facebook friends suggestions recently - I think FB has some fancy algorithms that try to link you with people with similar interests e.g. motorsport. - all very clever. I rarely use Facebook so I don't have many 'friends' on there!

But looking at Al's profile I think he recently semi-retired, sold his shop and some big equipment but still does some cad design work from home. Appears to be quite happy with that and still active racing from what I read. Pity he's no longer on here - we've lost a few to the FB side in recent years e.g. Roger Wills.

Yup, sign of the (current) times. Instant gratification, but it could all change again.....

Just as Xmas is approaching..... My Big Sis who lives just a few miles away eventually got her Economy 7 leccy back yesterday after two weeks with no heat or hot water, and having to run her range on day supply, then I get up this morning to find no water pressure! At least I got a quick answer from the emergency number- two burst mains in the area...... I wonder if a post frozen ground problem?

Is that a conspiracy theory? oh ang on a mo, I wondered why I had to replace my 4s with a newer model and my iPad2 just about cranks along like it's on 28k dial-up?

I’ve still got a 4S as a spare (great little phone) but my ipad2 had to go! The very nice people at Apple did take it in px for a supadupa fast new one though........

As soon as they stop supporting the iOS on a device it’s days are numbered... Peter’s original comment just repeated by Steve Wright on R2- beeb slow on the uptake as usual?

I was surprised but pleased to learn during the summer that Tesla had developed a new battery pack for their original Elise based roadster, despite it being out of production for several years and from a ‘previous generation’ as far as EV technology was concerned. Appears they have pledged their continuing support to owners of the model. It enabled them to become arguably the acknowledged leader in electric car design after all....

Apple- not.

The way Apple is playing the game reflects some aspects of the world as it is becoming, pretty much cynical. You can't upgrade some devices when they decide it even if the said device could support a new OS. I have 2 MacBooks at home that became useless. I dont like to be played for a patsy in French être pris pour un pigeon! And sometimes they let you stuck with free upgrade and serious bugs with. Yes, cynical.

Scary moment just now... pulling into the slip road off a dual carriageway in the dark, appears to be headlights coming towards me! Slow down and purposely drive straight at them, and the car they’re attached to fortunately stops. Turns out to be a Clio with young female driver on her own, who would have joined on the wrong carriageway. I shudder to think what could have happened.......

Just what you need...

I once met a car coming the wrong way on the M20 early one morning whilst heading for a ferry. Took a moment or two to register what I had just seen but the AA man just ahead of me was very quickly on the phone. Never did hear what, if anything, was the outcome.

Pretty much on the money, Gary He was telling me that he's been playing around with suspension bushing and settings on the Chevy - putting it much nearer to standard, and reckons that its much more stable in braking and handling. As he says he's just got to get braver and leave the braking later

But I think he's just enjoying not having the pressure of the shop, and seems to be having some good holidays - he's boarded his cruise ship today for a 7-day cruise around the Canaries and visiting Morocco, then spending a few days back in Tenerife to finish the year off.

To be honest I've been chatting with Al through FB and hadn't noticed it wasn't here.

Forums as a whole are falling thanks to FB. This one is probably the last that is still busy in my little sphere of operation.

Just listening to 5 Live predicting travel chaos on the A303 tonight. Guess who's going testing at the western end of the 303 tomorrow? Ah well, hopefully it'll be clear at silly o'clock in the morning. I'm taking the car and trailer rather than the lorry so back roads beckon.

Merry Christmas one and all. See you on the other side. Thanks for your company in 2017 and here's to many more.

I have had two RTA in last 5 years. One car written off and one more minor rear end bang. On both occasions not my fault but the other driver failed to stop and just drove off.
