Are you thinking very experienced... been there, done that experienced? Likes a beer and the odd smoke? Or Mr Tordoff!

As has been said last year was very half arsed on next to no budget; the limited budget went to tuppence after Lloyd wrecked at Thruxton. If there is a decent technical team and some shiny pennies and a good peddler then just maybe they won't be tail end Charlies.

I was thinking the latter! I think JP wouldn’t ‘go back’ to a car he walked away from, but I suppose it depends how desperate he is to stay in the series. We know Tordoff has tested for AmD & brings a good supply of pennies too! Unless of course he takes them to PMR............

Engineers and setup are massively important with the NGTC cars. They are a fairly strange config compared to most tin tops.

With MG it really showed. Jordan went there and found that without the engineering expertise that had gone to BMR by that stage they were a shadow of their former selves.

With a bit of jig time and a decent engineer working on them there's no reason why they can't be at the sharp end.

Perhaps if they were refreshed over the winter they could still be a force to be reckoned with in the right hands? After all the NGTC rules don't really reward developing a car, and it's more about just trying to achieve the best setup possible over a weekend (Jack Goff a case in point, finding a lot of time mid season, by going in a different direction setup wise). So other than making a car as close to the base weight as possible or reinventing the wheel (hi Subaru!), you can run a car for many seasons. Obviously the cars would have to be completely revamped to correct the damage that has been inflicted on them in the last couple of years.
Tend to agree

AmD have just shared a picture of their second Audi shell back from the spray shop. Driver announcements are being made next week.

I'm thinking no change with the Audis, and Tordoff and Epps in an MG.

If the MG thing is true, then I really hope AMD can make them front runners again. Speed traps last year showed they have the power, just need the set up and the chasis sorting out. Best of luck...!

So Epps is gonna be on the grid then, just a question of where.

Maybe I am being a bit harsh on the MGs, they did sometimes get up there last season, Donington, Knockhill and the Rock IIRC. But it seems the car is long in the tooth, it's been there since 2012. Hope AMD can find life in the old dog

Tordoff I can see. Young Moffat - while anything is possible - less so. He has a car. He has a team to run it (Ciceley). He has a TBL. He has a title sponsor (Laser). Although what if they sold the car & TBL - to Ciceley, expanding to two - and young 'un pilots one of Shauns 4. If there is MG $$$ then the cost of a seasons racing would presumably be lower. Which is I think why Cook returned to the MG last year - cheaper ride and he was a bit shy on lolly for the year in Stewart Lines car.

Are you at ASI Mr Hollamby to put us out of our conundrumming?

Ash, Flash, Matt, CT and AJ now announced as appearing at ASI.

So obviously we'll see the new Honda, plus CTs refreshed BMW paint scheme. I would be shocked if BMR don't confirm Ash...

Not necessarily true. Colin has appeared on numerous occasions without either a) a livery or b) a drive. TD has sometimes left a reveal until media day, despite their drivers being at ASI.

But yes, you're probably correct.

Five predictions, not all new, and no doubt five over the cross bar... have I solved the AmD conundrum?

AmD Audi: retain Ollie Jackson + AWE.

AmD/888 MG: Sam Tordoff + Dave Newsham.

Maximum: Mike Epps.

In BTCC maybe; nothing longer comes to mind. In motorsport no; NASCAR has had some very long team-mate partnerships: in recent years Jeff Gordon & Jimmie Johnson at Hendrick for example.

Jeff Gordon 1993-2015 (+ part of 2016)
Jimmie Johnson 2002-present
So 14 years consecutive.

ASI Twitter - "The 2018 @HMSRace and @UKPMR team cars will also take pride of place on the [BTCC] feature"

Interesting to see PMR being focused on... to me, this suggests they're going to have some big news....?

Short answer - no.

I'm also confused - what's humorous about it?

Dick Johnson & John Bowe were teammates in Australian Touring Cars from 1988-1998, so 11 seasons straight

Craig Lowndes & Jamie Whincup have been teammates in V8Supercars from 2006 until now, so its 12 years and counting (13 years in 2018)

I reckon the MG’s will still race under a 888 banner of some sort, just they’ll be run by AmD!

I see BTC Norlin are announcing drivers next week and they’ll be a surprise! So who’s brought more sponsorship to oust Newsham?
