Work Experience

Hello All,

I marshal all over the country and i will be starting a college course in September in Motorsport Mechanics... i am looking for work experience for my college just on a race weekend for the moment as not many people are from around my colleges area which is Somerset...

If any body would like to talk further about this please email me on

kieron_salmons@hotmail.co.uk

If this does go ahead the college have assured me it would only be good respectable people who they know would do a good job.

In advance... Thank you

Cheers

Your best bet is to contact higher level (F3/GT/BTCC/BTCC support) teams and offer your (unpaid! - although they might buy you sausage and chips at lunchtime) assistance - maybe at test days to start with, or practice days. I'm sure if you put the effort in, you'll find someone will help you out - it took me a couple of days of phone calls, but I got sorted with a BTCC team, helping out things like doing fuelling, tyres or polishing - but it puts you IN the garage, seeing the cars being worked on and a chance to do more as the team learns what your skills are.

hello there

i study motorsport engineering at uni (just finished second year) and was looking for a work placement for this year/next and it was near enough impossible to get one

everywhere i asked said that they dont have enough work or due to the climate arent taking anybody on. even if i said id work for free! but then even that backlashed as my uni said that if i work for free then it doesnt count as a placement year

personally i think email is a waste of time
1 write leter send in post 2 send fax
3 call in personally to race shops
most will say same thing sorry nowt going on and you either need to live VERY locally to the team to keep hanging around/calling in to be of use to them or know some of the guys that work there

its a chicken and egg situation they may need helper but dont want the agro of training up a young guy its too expensive of their time but how do u get experience?

It may be better to find a local club racer and go help them eves weekends cleaning car wheels listen to the guys talk read the prepare / race to win books

Yes it was about rallycross.

Got a Peugeot 205 modified car currently also got another car which would be an ideal project and needs to be built from scratch!

Interested then get in touch pm or reply to email.
