What Next for Edwards?

There has been a lot of rumour and speculation concerning current World Champion Troy Bayliss' expected move to MotoGP next season with the new four-stroke Ducati that the marque will campaign next year.

However, there has been little talked about the future of the 'Texas Tornado' Colin Edwards. A couple of years back it was rumoured that he would be moving to MotoGP, but the deal was never done and he stayed in WSBK, where he wrapped up the 2000 title.

However, if Bayliss was to disappear, there goes Edwards' only real challenger, so this opens a question:

Would Edwards move across to MotoGP if Honda gave him a four-stroke V5 to resume his battle with Bayliss and also compete against the best riders of the world or would he stay in the WSBK, dominate but would have no real competition?

Personally, I think if given the oppurtunity Edwards should jump at a MotoGP ride.

I think it depends on who gets the four V5 Honda's for next year. Repsol will have two, and this year's two Honda's will go elsewhere, Pons, Katoh.......depends if Edwards could get a ride at those teams.

Also, honda may entrust him with the development of next years 4 cylinder 1000cc Fireblade Honda Superbike.

As long as Honda run 2 bikes in WSBK next year, I don't mind where Colin runs.

If Honda thought that Edwards was capable of making the jump from Supers to GP he would be there by now.

Suddenly because Troy Bayliss is beating him in a resounding manner, Honda will think he is worthy? I doubt it!

Edwards is a great rider, I prefer WSBK, so I would love to see both men stay in the series. However theres still haga Xaus, Corser, Hogdson, Chilli. Theres still talent there, just get them on good bikes
