I like it because it's different to the previous versions of the 919. Definitely the biggest update on the car since the 2014-15 change.

They managed to make it uglier than last year's Audi. Impressive.

I'm not sure I would go that far. Last year's Audi was impressively ugly!

Nah, looks like high downforce to me with that much slope.

Side/Door windows looks quite small?
The window was already tiny, it's just normally surrounded by a bunch of gloss black paint that hides it. The 2014 car had a bigger physical window but a bunch of it was actually blocked from the inside anyways.

It's the same on all the cars now, some add a tiny little extra bit of window above the side headrest but it's pointless.

This doesn't look like a high downforce package to me, the front fenders never go that far forward and the diveplanes are much too small...

Where did side mirrors go?
looks like they've hidden it away behind the front wheel arch...but maybe they are using rear view cameras instead?

No low drag bodywork since the 2014 R18 has fenders that curve down that gradually in front of the tire. They're all extremely upright and flat across the top to drive air around the holes. That you can see more than a sliver for the headlight opening from above would be very unusual for a low drag fender.

In general last year's 919 had relatively short fenders regardless of configuration so length doesn't really say anything.

From what I can guess the mirror is inset into the back of the fender with a clear lexan fairing, making it effectively non-existent aerodynamically.

So there are either two cars being pictured here or two separate body kits (or nose sections): The car (or kit) in the picture taken in the box is not the same as the car (or nose section) we see out on track.
Compare where the chevron design forms a "V" in the picture taken in the box and the ones taken on track. Also the number colors on the car are different.
Also - No opening in the "hump" on the cars on track.

Doesn't seem like a livery at all just testing aero parts. Hope the new livery is more stripes than just white. It certainly made me look twice, she's no looker.

Look at the end of the fenders compared to the end of the front bodywork. They're close to even in the picture I was talking about. Porsche looks like they're going with a new philosophy in aero. The previous cars never had the front fenders extend this far forward. But the TS050 and especially the last R18 did.

Wonder why they've allowed the photos to be leaked/released, seen as they have managed to keep the car hidden until now.

Yes, most unexpected.

I hope the final livery includes the blackened out section around the side windows. It will improve the looks immeasurably.

Indeed, its also the only part that makes it somewhat relatable to a 911.

I couldn't agree more. The black section tied everything together aesthetically.
Very curious about the aero though. This is the largest evolution aero-wise that we have seen thus far. I honestly think that this is where they will see the largest gains at this point.

Definitely a much bigger visual change than I expected.

The livery is nothing great, so I too hope that the final product will be better.

However, I am of the minority that actually finds the new shape, on balance, more attractive. The sidepod contour and front fender shape are very interesting. Also, really curious what is going on under that upper portion on the sidepod?

But, it is a racing car. A lot of its beauty will depend on how fast it is!

I think that it certainly looks more purposeful. Lets see if it as fast as it looks.

Yes, that sidepod hump with the opening reminds me of what the new Ferrari f1 car is doing.

The radiator intakes half way down the car is very close to the 962. I like that bit.

A little OTT: Does anyone remember if we had live timing for the 2016 Prologue? I know we did not have it for the the ones before.
