Stockhatch Name Change?
At the forum before the Superprix last year, Mark Rennison suggested that the profile of the Stockhatch class might be improved if the name was changed. He said in the motorsport world outside of rallycross, the word stock give the impression of contact sports like stock car racing. He was not sure what to call it instead, but John Welch suggested Pro-hatch. John said the use of the prefix pro could mean production, but it also had positive connertations, in that it could also mean professional.
The ROC organisers annouced yesterday that they were going to change the name to Pro-car next year Now, I am not sure if there is need for a change of name. It seems to have worked alright for the 750 MC, but if people like Mark Rennison and John Welch think it would be a good idea, we should at least consider it. Thoughts anyone? [mod note]This is a thread purely about a class name change. Not, a my series is right, and yours is wrong thread. Please remember the forum rules [/mod note] . Hi everyone
We cant used Stockhatch anymore as we are opening up the whole thing to family saloon cars 4-5 door in the 1600cc class In the 2000 cc class as above but the age limit of over 3 years old is to be removed . |

It's just something I have been thinking about since Mark mentioned it. I can see pro's & con's in a name change. I am not in favour of the prefix 'pro' myself it sounds a bit American to me. I would prefer the word production in full. It gives a better description of the class to the casual fan. Last edited by silver bullet; 19 Jun 2007 at 07:10. |

Yes, how about just 'production'? 'British production car championship' has a good ring to it. Otherwise why not call it something like 'division 3' - other countries number their other classes in this way.

How about '205 challenge' and 'Civic challenge' (if new 2 litre multi valve class goes ahead)' or '1600 Bangers' and '2 litre Bangers'.

Production Rallycross.........Hmmm done before methinks when the 2L Mk1 Escort ruled the roost, and people like Steve Palmer slated the series for the cars looking like banger racers........
Okay so how about - Production, Modified, Super-Modified, and Supercar. Or is that too much like Formula C, B and A? Must have been so confusing having that class structure because someone decided to get rid of it......since then we've all been in the dark. |

If the Open championsihip are trying to bring things into line with Europe, why don't you adopt terms that make sense to Europeans - like in France with Euro Div 1, 1a, 2 and then 'domestic' classes 3, 4 etc. Nothing against terms like procar1600 but do we need more complicated class names?
