Grant Rees ... Future BRC Champ?
An amazing 2nd place in Pembrey in his first ever drive in a Supercar. George Traceys 6R4 suited the young welshman. Future champ?

Yes a very good drive by Grant today, although he was on the ragged edge at times but fair play to him he kept his nose clean
Is he likely to do any more rounds this year or not.....? |

Grant drove really well today.
Loved the noise of that car, he just got more used to it as the day went on! he is a hell of a peddler in that Sunny F2 car too [its a bit unreliable though] Pat |

This is how it was reported locally
FIRED-UP GRANT A BIG HIT AT CIRCUIT The latest round of the MSA British Rallycross Series took place last Sunday at the Welsh Motorsports Centre at Pembrey where Grant Rees took to the wheel of the mighty MG Metro 6R4. With the weather forgiving in the morning, with even some sunshine, Rees started his first race and took the lead off the start line beating off the challenge of Pat Doran in a Fiesta and Andrew Jordan in a Focus. And he led until the final lap when an ignition problem forced him to retire with half a lap to go, costing him an almost certain maiden win. The second race saw Rees lying second overall but a spin cost him time again on the final lap but he still secured fourth place. With his confidence growing in the car all the time the finals were looking good. With a few rain showers setting in for the afternoon's racing, Rees was fired up for some more action. With the Super Final taking place, the Llanybydder youngster was on a mission and he finished a remarkable second overall just behind the Focus WRC of Andrew Jordan. Rees said: ''It was a shame about the ignition problem earlier on. It was almost a certain win on my maiden race in the Metro but that's motorsport. ''It would have been nice to have won the Super Final but second is absolutely fantastic. I have to thank George Tracy for the loan of the car as he was racing in Sweden in a European Rallycross meeting in a Peugeot 307 WRC. ''I have taken some points away from his rivals in the British and Irish Series today, so let's hope it helps him out come the end of the season." The day saw a huge turnout of spectators to witness top-class action. The next round of the series moves up to Dunfermline in Scotland at the Knockhil circuit on August 5. |

I wonder if George is the kind of guy that might let a driver to what Gollop has done with Jordan and let a budget come in to kind of lease one his cars.
He has a few in his stable now and no doubt could perhaps help fund himself through Europe (clearly not that he needs the help). Might be good to maybe help a kid like Rees or his own lad into a Supercar. |
