Super Aguri F1 Team, where are you?

Its all gone rather quiet on the seafront regarding Super Aguri, am I right in suggesting that the fire no longer burns bright for this team?

Anyone know what is happening?

The fact that Honda announced Davidson as their main test driver, thus leaving Sato out in the cold if Super Aguri doesn't happen, suggests that they are confident that it will.

Sato had clearly said he was not interested with testing. Davidson's signing with Honda means nothing insofar as Super Aguri is concerned.

Yuji Ide had a seat fitting at Super Aguri HQ today, so he looks set to be one of their driver I'm guessing.

Possibly doing some testing in order to try and get a full time drive? Super Aguri would have a plethora of Japanese drivers to choose from, and then there are those from other countries as well...

I look forward to seeing them on track, even if the cars are slow. I would love to see a full grid of 24 cars again, and this is a good step in the right direction. Perhaps in the new Concorde era post 2007, there might be a possibility for even more than that. Although I don't know if it would be good to get back to the days of pre-qualifying (then again it does provide more on-track action for spectators - but I am heading off topic here...)

From the not too distant past of the F1 forum, for a discussion on grid sizes, check out This Magnificent Thread of Indescribable Brilliance. .

....what?.............

*********

Anyway, back OnT.

I am not sure I agree with the idea that no news is good news. It could be, but it might not.

Although more cars is great, would it perhaps not be better to wait for 2007 and have an outfit properly prepared from the outset?

I'd expect we will see them on the grid in some form, but exactly what form I wouldn't like to guess.....

The same Paul Stoddart that predicted Minardi would score 10 or 11 points in 2003. They scored 0.

The longer the delay in announcing whether the team will actually be on the grid or not means that they have less time to prepare the cars. If they are very slow then waiting a year would be a sensible option. But I suppose a battle between Midland and Super Aguri would be interesting...

I doubt that the team will be sitting around on their hands until they are officially in this year's championship. They'll be working around the clock right now on the assumption that it will happen. And if it doesn't, then at least they tried.

A spokesperson for the team has told crash.net that they have lodged the necessary money and hope that the entry is confirmed soon.
