Standing or double file safety car restarts?
In a surprising move, Formula One have confirmed standing double-file restarts after safety cars when it is safe to do so: https://www.autosport.com/f1/news/13...dure-this-week
While as we know, NASCAR introduced double-file rolling restarts a long time ago (with amusing action-packed results ensuing!). Should Supercars introduce a similar entertainment-orientated initiative? Given Supercars are grided up manually by stewards, unlike F1's automated system, I guess that would make the F1 method too tricky, so the NASCAR double-file option might be a lot of fun? |

I think you'd see a few more ambulances.

I prefer to just get on with the racing, we already spend longer than required trundling around behind SC let alone having to spend more stopping and resetting.

Seems to me that a standing start is virtually taking us back to the old days before SC where a race might be red-flagged and then re-started. If you're going to do a standing start, it begs the question on why you'd trundle round behind the SC for a few laps - might as well stop them, grid them up and be ready to go once the joint is cleared up.
Better to wait and see how it goes in F1 first I think, might work, might be a colossal dud. |

Also another consideration might be to the broadcasters.... even though reduced the lap count continues behind the SC, it is still counting down which it would not if stopped in pitlane. We dont want to have GPs being run to time certain finishes so the TV channels can maintain their programme schedules. |

V8 Fireworks - I think you have mis-understood the article.
The standing re-starts will only happen after a red flag. If a car spins into the sand and gets recovered under a normal Safety Car , it'll be a flying restart as it had been for years. |

Restarts present opportunities, which is super for entertainment (if you like that sort of thing) but generally creates un-needed chaos. How many shunts have been caused by twits in the midfield seeking a leg up they haven't earned and do not deserve? For me, the best restart method is the one that allows racing to resume as seamlessly as possible. |

I reckon it would be good to teach SVG how to do a restart without causing problems
SMP last year HV a few years back the only times we have ever really had re-start issues in recent years |

Didn't they do a NASCAR style restart a few years ago at Adelaide and it caused Jason Bright to do somersaults with his BOC Commodore?

After a red flag, instead of doing a lap or two behind the safety car before getting the green flag to resume racing, they park on the grid for a restart. As happened after red flags for decades and only stopped doing so in the mid-2000s

Yes, but because of SC they mostly don't do red flags. That's kind of the point of the SC.
