So very sad, top bloke who along with Eddie always came with a smile on his face, top marshal and a pleasure to work alongside, he will be sorely missed.
RIP Bladders...................... |

Sad Sad news. What a character. It was always good to have both he and Eddie in my team. He needed action though. I'll always remember one trip to Croix where I put him just round the corner after post 3 doing repeat yellow flag. He was BORED STIFF!!!!
Rest in peace Steve, we will miss you. |

Very sad indeed.
Steve spent a day with us on the motor circuit, a trip in a Cobra and a fast ride in the circuit Subaru, sadly missed by us all.
Take it easy, a sad moment for all. Ian |

Never knew Steve either, but it's always sad to lose one of our brothers, especially at this time of year. My deepest sympathy to his family and friends.

On behalf of the BMMC I would like to offer sincere condolences to Steve's family.
Over the years I have worked witrh Steve many many times, he has always been happy and the first to rib you about anything that he could think of. The days on Post 4A at Brands (Rogers Bunker) were always full of action and a great sense of team spirit, something both Roger and Steve instilled in everyone. Sadly I missed seeing him on his last day at Goodwood this year but I will always remeber Steve as he was, a larger than life, warm and genuinely friendly marshal who always had time for a joke and to help others. Steve, RIP and don't lose your sense of humour up there. |

Sadly I'd been fearing this thread for a while but it doesn't make it easier to read. We'll miss you Steve. You really were one of the good guys. Rest easy fella.

Like the others on here that knew Steve, I too am really sorry to hear of his death, even tho as Jon said, we knew it was coming.
Definately an action man, but a truly good natured bloke. Andy, just the thought of what he would be saying at the bar after spending a day doing repeat yellows has me chuckling. Stephen puts it mildly when he says Steve would "rib" you about anything. Personally I found he enjoyed taking - winding you up, but like all the best team players, was just as happy if you could find something in turn to wind him up about. Miss you mate. |

So sad to hear this. Steve and Eddie made a good team, full of mischief, humour but steadfast in their duties, and always livened a post by their presence.
Steve stood as a shining example of courage through dignity. My deepest heartfelt sympathy to his family. Mike P. |

Post 4a will be lost without Steve's larger than life presense.
My best memories are from the mega BMW explosion and Steve grabbing the open door to stop the car spinning. The other would be Steve and myself turning the hut round with Roger trapped inside and unable to get out. It was a pleasure and a great laugh to work with Steve, gone but never forgotten. |

I had the privilege of being Steve's observer on one of the few days he managed this year. When you saw Steve on your crew list you always knew that you were in for a good day, both with the banter and knowing that any incident would be handled quickly and efficiently.
Condolences to Steve's friends and family |

As mentioned before, I knew this day was coming, but ever so sad even so.
It was great to see him again giving out the lunches at the Revival this year, even though he was half his usual size. I was able to give him a huge hug and kiss and a final ribbing about the time he put contaminated petrol in his bike and was stuck at post 7 at Thruxton waiting for the AA! Bless him, rest in peace Steve. I'm sure Gerry Marshall and a few others will buy you a beer up there. |

Very sad news.
Steve was one of our team at Molcomb for the Festival of Speed and always kept us entertained throughout the three days. But I knew that when necessary (fairly frequent at Molcomb) he was an excellent and reliable marshal. Every year we would wait for when he would colourfully say that this would definitely be his last year, as we sat around awaiting some delay to end. And now sadly he will not be there, but we will always remember him. JonT |
