Well Morris my man. I can think of a good and easy reason why the income doesn't match the crowd numbers. They count the cummulative score. Day 1 + Day 2 + Day 3 + Day 4 = ???????

I was there with friends on days two, three and four. So we were counted three times!

Why no Formula Ford or 'club' based races like the HQ's? They have CAMS involvement. Not good when you want a monopoly is it?

In Canberra 6 months after last years race the government complained Tony gave them the true numbers about half what they were claiming during the race.

Having been to every race from 1971 onwards, I would have to say this won was the best yet. Many acquaintances who normally have no interest in motor racing, commented on what a great event it was, staying glued to the box all day. This one had it all, weather, passing (who said there is no passing in V8s?), pace and a classic finish.

Gotta agree with you there Good Sir Knight. I thought the race was fantastic - and absolute fight from start to finish.

I was as nervous as buggery wondering if Skaifey had enough petrol to make the distance with Jonesy gunning for him a few seconds behind. Do you honestly think they were running out of petrol or were just playing up to the cameras ?

They must have been close, considering they usually make their first stops around 30-32 laps and that last stint was 34 laps.

Re: HRT fuel...going up and asking BJR if they had enough fuel was a fantastic ( ) ploy...

34 laps is hardly a long stint though, and when Skaife took the car over it was under safety car.

34 laps is a fair stint, not long or not short. However calling the race , the best yet is very wrong and a total kick in the face to the real great races in the past. V8 Racing does have little legitimate passing, how many guys crashed into each other in the race.

Hey Moff,

What about that classy looking Mini in the carpark, or that VL wagon that seemed to be growing chicken bones underneath it.

Whats this about pit girls. I must have missed them !
