BJAY should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
If worst comes to worst

Just an update on the Honda Indy situation.
On Sports Tonight, they talked to the Honda Indy 300 boss, who said that there is no truth that the CART race wont go ahead. But he added "if worst comes to worst" they have already talked to AVESCO about a altinate plan to have V8 Supercars as the major race.

Well, it would be unfortunate if the CART cars don't race, but if they can't i suppose a V8 race would be ok. What would the distance be, would it be 300km or what, and how would Honda feel. And what do u all reckon the crowd would be like.

I hope the CART race goes ahead....I think if they fall through however and AVESCO decides to try and make it a big V8 Supercar event that most of the teams would really kick up a stink and start squawking about not having budgeted at the begginning of the year for a longer race and the costs involved.

Also, Bridgestone might be miffed at having to produce more control tyres to cover the longer distance....people only interested in the Indy Cars would be pulling out...crowds would be down...Honda would probably be able to pull their sponsorship out on the fact that the CART boys aren't there...somebody would get left with a huge bill...jeez...it'd cause all sorts of nightmares.

v8 supercar races at indy and f1 gp should be part of championship....if crappy 20 minute sprint rounds carry championship points why not these support acts at "BIG" events - why not have a 40 minute race on the saturday afternoon ..... its good enough for atlantics, barber dodge etc - while i am at it, is australia to poor for f3000 to come to town, why go to brazil and not here - #$%^heads

sorry about the whinge , i'm cool now

Actually, if worst comes to worst they will use the same campy Ricky Martin style theme music for this event again next year....ew.

gomick = there's one main reason they won't have these events as part of the Championship - they are a support category - if anything goes wrong with the F1 or CART events/categories, they get the chop - no questions asked.

There are two reasons why the AGP support races aren't part of the Shell Championship. Ten have an EXCLUSIVE contract to show every round of the Shell series and Nine have an EXCLUSIVE contract to show everything at the GP.
