There were rumours in the past of a Mclaren aero kit for Indy, but those don't come into effect until 2013. There is also the work they are doing on a GTE car, don't know the time frame there. And having said that, I don't think they will have a presence in 2012 anywhere in the US unless somebody buys a street MP4 and modifies it since the gt3's are all sold out.

No it's not right as it stands. Bit of a strange one. I would expect it to be there in the future. I could well be that the journalist and quite possibly even JB don't understand the class rules.

If he did say that about Le Mans then that bodes well for the future but I don't see McLaren putting their drivers in the cars mid-season. I'm watching a repeat of F1 qualifying now where he has just said he loves Formula 1 and wouldn't want to be doing anything else.

That's great that he has an interest, but it seems weird that he would want to run in a class not battling for overall victory while still running in F1.

It would be a throwback to see drivers doing F1 and sportscars in the same season.

it seems that one MP4-12C GT3 will participate in the Japanese race (SGT or Super Taikyu?) next year.
*LMP cars is a sponsor of team LMP motorsport (SGT team, #27).

LMP motorsport were the team who run F430 in GT300.
Team LMP motorsport do not run MP4-12C.
There is no telling who runs MP4-12C.
