Valker should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Super 2000 in Finland

2005 will be second season for super 2000 cars in finnish championship. Super 2000 and Sport 2000 (Super Production) cars will drive in same starts.

It's possible to homologate cars nationally and also "upgrade" Super Production cars (with racing history in Finland) to Super 2000 cars. So there'll be some pretty unique "Super 2000" cars like Honda Integra, BMW 320i E36 and Renault Megane.

Inspired by this grate page (http://www.xs4all.nl/~wjbrand/wtcc.htm) I made my own list http://www.students.tut.fi/~hokkaneo/Super2000Race.html .

p.s. If my english is ununderstandable just tell me and I'll fix the page

Megane is just a rumour that somebody is updating his Super Production car. Probably Keijo Ahonen who drove one last year.

I can't say sure how many cars there will be this year, but 2004 total 12 Super2000 and about same number of Super Production cars made atleast one race. Eight S2k and six SP made the whole season. Max number of cars in same race was 21.

Now it looks like there will be some more Super2000 cars than last year but less Super Production.

The promoter says there will be 8 or 9 drivers who will do the whole season plus 3-5 cars more in some races (probably from Baltia).

Entrylist for the first round in Alastaro circuit 14.-15.5.

Super 2000
1 Olli Haapalainen
2 Pasi Lähteenmäki Honda Civic Type R
3 Jani Vuorinen VW Golf IV GTI
5 Kari Grönthal BMW 320i
6 Jukka Ylitalo BMW 320i
9 Kari Irri Nissan Primera
18 Jari Kämäräinen BMW 320i
10 Ari Laivola Seat Toledo Cupra
11 Aivis Ohtla Honda Accord
19 Janel Nurminen
14 Tero Tupala Honda Integra Type R

Sport 2000
30 Olavi Saastamoinen BMW 320i
28 Jarno Ollikainen Honda Integra Type R

Janel Nurminen doesn't know will he drive an Estonian Civic or Haapalainen's old A4. If he choose Audi, there probably won't be Haapalainen in the grid.

Last years entry list and stuff

Nice gallery...particularly like the LX Accord paint job.

Dainty circuit too...not used to seeing plantlife growing on the run-off areas...these Finns must drive well!

Why do they only do 6 laps? The race length is less then 9 minutes.

Gone a bit overboard on the definition of 'sprint race' it looks.

Yep. Ahvenisto really is awesome.

I personally don't like those short races and I don't know why race organiser copied it from STCC. We should have let Swedes test it first and take it if it's good

You aren't serious? 9 minutes is kinda ridiculous. A "sprint" race should at least be 20 minutes. I think 30 minutes is a fair balance? OTOH, maybe they're keeping it at 9 minutes b/c people don't have a very long attention span?

4th round was Vauhtiajot Race & Rock Festival in Seinäjoki 23.-24.7.

Race format was qual+2*race.

There were two new drivers in the grid. 2004 champion Olli Haapalainen in the 2nd LMS Audi A4 (different driver in every round this far!) and local driver Timo Ylihakola in Jani Vuorinen's last years VW Golf.

Grid for the first race was a bit weird because it started to rain when only some of the drivers had made a flying lap. Pasi Lähteenmäki took the pole position.

Race 1 was red flagged after 6 laps because Janel Nurmien (Audi) and Ari Laivola (SEAT) crashed. Nurminen was disqualified. Lähteenmäki won the restart. Kari Grönthal (BMW) was 2nd and Olli Haapalainen 3rd.

Race 2: 1. Grönthal, 2. Kari Irri (Nissan Primera), 3. Jari Kämäräinen (BMW).

Points after 4/6 (unofficial):
Code:
1. Pasi Lähteenmäki	Honda Civic	131
2. Janel Nurminen	Audi A4 96
3. Kari Grönthal	BMW 320i 88
4. Ari Laivola Seat Toledo 71
5. Aivis Ohtla EST	Honda Accord 64
6. Jukka Ylitalo	Bmw 320i 61
7. Keijo Ahonen	Renault Megane 58
8. Kari Irri Nissan Primera 48
9. Jari Kämäräinen	BMW 320i 39
10. Indrek Sepp EST	Audi A4 34
11. Tero Tupala Honda Integra 21
12. Anssi Kela Audi A4 20

*   Olli Haapalainen	Audi A4
*   Markku Hitamäki	Audi A4
* Martin Merisaar EST	Honda Civic
* Meelis Laido EST	Honda Civic
* Janek Merisaar EST	Honda Integra
