Vic Lee...

Now that the court case is over (a quick web search will reveal the outcome) is the subject allowed to be discussed on the forum...?

All four pleaded guilty and received a total of 38 years between them, with Lee himself receiving 12 of those. Stupid stupid people.

Lee only got 12 years. He was lucky. They should have thrown away the key. Second offence proves he didn't learn. He even tried to sue Customs for the return of his transporter seized in Operation Bounce.

Good riddance to him, I hope he sleeps easy at night. And I hope his past drivers can now accept that their success was bought with dirty money.

The book has been thrown at Lee, and rightly so.

But to suggest his drivers should have any guilt over this is ridiculous.

They would have known nothing.

Awww, are you sure we can't hand the 1992 BTCC title to John Cleland?

As opposed to, say, Michael Schumacher, whose titles have been bought with child labour and cancer sticks.

I doubt if many sponsors are 100% ethically clean. Albeit this seems a rather egregious example.

However, it does demonstrate the total bull**** nature of our criminal system. Lee should still have been serving time for his original offence. How many kids have been hooked on drugs cos he was let out early for good behaviour? Should be the other way around - you serve your full sentence and if you are not behaving well you get 50% tacked on.

It's pretty saddening that Vic Lee will ever be released, a second offence of this magnitude should mean life imprisonment, especially from someone who didn't need to do this to survive or fund an addiction.

Vic Lee sentenced to 12 years, he'll be out peddaling drugs and causing misery in 6 years.

No doubt those in motorsport will forgive and forget, like they did last time.

I feel sorry for his genuine honest employees who will have their careers tainted by being associated with VLR.

Did this instance include [snipped name]? Just wondering as I heard him quoting about his future plans the other week.

I don't believe that he was ever implicated in this situation, except in a few unsubstaniated rumours which were soon quashed.

I don't think the other 2 defenants were motor racing people. But I agree that, for a second offence of such severity, 12 years isn't long enough.

Was with a driver running an ex-vlr prepared car earlier this year when they found an amount of ballast in the rear panels. Cue much tongue in cheek disappointment that it was only lead and not the budget for that season.

Would that be ex-BTCC driver Jerry Mahoney?

This whole business leaves an unpleasant taste in the mouth. So sad to have memories of great drivers tainted by this ******.

yeah, agreed and lots of people and companies seriously left out of pocket and in the case of one company, bust, by his actions. VLR's assets were seized, but I believe the 307's had already changed hands by then.

I hope BTCC or whoever considers any future VLR entry very carefully
