Lydden Hill 1997 Film
Hi, I have been going through my archives and came across a Hi8 recording I did of the Rallycross meeting at Lydden Hill during summer 1997. I have edited all the best bits of the Supercar races into 16mb 640x480 WMV video file that is 2m 48s long.
It contains race footage of Will Gollop - 306 Turbo 4x4 (still used today by it's 4th owner!) Barry Squibb - Escort Cosworth Rob Gibson - Metro 6R4 Ian Rowlance - Metro 6R4 John Cross - Fiesta Turbo 4x4 John Moloney - Escort Cosworth Tony Bell - Celica and others.. Has anyone on here got a web/FTP site that I can upload it to so everyone can download it? |

I would like to add that it is high quality and has been edited to represent different camera positions.

Can't help you with a web site for that but I'm sure as heck that I was at that meeting (well, there has hardly been a rallycross at Lydden or Brands that I have missed in the last 20 or so years...). Was it the meeting where Mr Bell in his Celica stuffed it big time going down the hill from the hairpin? |

I think you are confusing it with 1999 when Tony Bell's Corrolla hit the bank

THANKS
Superb videos. I'm being greedy now but has anyone got any more? One point though, did anyone notice the size of the crowd? It was almost non existant. There are thousands more there these days - it was more like clubmans day at Lydden |

In those days it the Compomotive Wheels championship and didnt have the status of today. Also the lack of a FIA European round, loss of most of the Group B cars, Euro2000 class that didnt take off etc all didnt help.
I was surprised that the spaceframe rules didnt take off as well. If only Lydden could be part of the European Championship again! One good thing about then was there was a classic class that had modified Escort RS mk1,2, Triumph TR7 V8 and Talbot Sunbeams. I remember that summer there was a meeting that celebrated 25 years of rallycross and Martin SCHANCHE came down in his lime green Escort 4x4 Turbo and stuffed Will Gollup easily. |

The last website in the previous post regards the British Rallycross Championship from 2004. They are also available on www.revs.tv however, only episodes 1-7 are there, what about the last rounds of the series, especially Brands Hatch? I take it they were televised, are they available on the internet anywhere or were they shown on Men & Motors??? Also will the 2005 BRC be on Men & Motors?
