Am surprised the ProDuct cars werent as quick... Mr Pearson's cars usually have the wick turned right up (sometimes to the detriment of reliability...)
According to the B12HR website, Mr Longhurst will be joining Mssrs Salmon and White in 'either last years winning car' or a new Evo X. I guess they have left their options open incase the new car ain't as quick at the car they ran this year....

With Pearson having Brad Jones and Seto aboard, Mitsubishi certainly are making a big play to go back to back.....

The EVO 7/8/9 has had lots of years of devolopement compared to the Evo X and the information form the 9 to the X is useless. So there is a lot of catching up to do as far as thr R&D goes.

My pick is still a 135i if anyone runs one.

Word is that the organisers believe they should have a field of 50 cars or possibly more for the 12 hour!

Should be an absolute cracker of a race for the purists. My guess is, safety cars galore this time around!

That would be great!!! But we can't get too ahead of ourselves. Even if there are 50 cars on the entry list, the odd few decide to pull out within weeks, even days, of the event. I think 40-42 is more realistic, but still a fantastic effort and like the 1000km classics of old...

What's the difference between a 315i and a 335i?
Either way, I still think the race for outright honours will be between Mitsubishi and BMW. Would love to see a Holden or Subaru win it though.
Heard on Saturday that a few Commodore Cup racers have taken up Mr McLean's offer of a brand new R8. If this is so, it could be a real dark horse. The likes of Lloyd, Tancredi, Parker - they're no slouches, and they've all been to Bathurst before.

Did you mean 135i? The 135i has the same engine as the 335i.

Yeah, I did mean the 135i, sorry. So it is more compact and lighter, with the same powerplant?

According to the BMW Website, the 135 is only 40kg lighter than the 335, so in terms of a weight saving exercise, it isnt hand-over-fist better.

Being shorter in wheelbase, in theory it should be more of a handful than the 335, which most observers noted was quite a well balanced machine in the previous 2 events.

Certainly makes no sense for the Holt/Morcom camps to go to the expense of swapping the cars, as the 335 now has 2 years development on it. On paper the 135 doesnt look to be the weapon most people think it will be.

Certainly it looks as though if you want to win the 12 hour, you need an Evo or a WRX...

I reckon a well-sorted Zed could do the job. For me the WRX has been anything but impressive at Bathurst.

This year there are a few well sorted WRX's in the field. Lee Castle has won the last two rounds of the manufacturers championship in one, beating the East Evo which was the fastest car at the 12hour last year... no reason why the WRX's couldnt be a pest this year...

According to the B12HR website, both the R32 Golf and the R36 Passat are both eligible in the all wheel drive class.

The times for the VE's at Phillip Island werent as quick as I'd have expected, but granted the VZ's had quite a few years of development (including a possible data transfer from the VY's).

Also, were the VE's Clubsport's or GTS's? I'd be interested to know if the MRS was a little trickier to handle than expected (considering the power is the same these days).

From memory they were Clubsports. With more development behind them they should be good. They were a bit behind Briffa's new VE Clubsport and the Delfsma Falcon GT-P at Sandown though.
