Round 4 - Moto GP 2012, Lemans
Both Friday sessions are done with Stoner and Pedrosa taking the top two spots both sessions. Lorenzo moved up the order in the second session after a mediocre first session. Without looking through too much, it seems like the Honda is working well here.

The MotoGP season is taken shape with three neat contenders (no bonus for guessing their names) and a remarkable other (Crutchlow). The rest is irrelevant in terms of top positions (not in terms of riding merit, though).
Vale is becoming a nuisance more than an exchampion. France's qualy was relatively less bad but barely ahead of Barbera in a satellite bike... Let's see the race, particularly if it rains. I suppose the title will be decided by the relative merits of Yamaha and Honda. And in Honda's case, by Casey's arm problems and the known physical fragility of Pedrosa. Moto2 has a brilliant driver, Marquez and a reborn prospect, Espargaro. Taciturn Luthi is another notable rider but I don't see him as a true contender. Iannone is too irregular and Zarko is still unexperienced. The wild Moto3 is not so wild when we speak about title propects. Vinales is a great rider but I think Fenati is a very hard bone to chew. Cortese is riding better than ever, so I see three contenders. Surprising Salom is doing a remarkable beginning of the season, let's see if he can build something noteworthy from that. Favs for titles? I don't see singular favorites yet, perhaps my best title favorite is Marquez for Moto2. |

Rossi is now officially the new Anthony West: sh*t in dry, great in wet.

- for any bike engineers out there -
is Rossi's performance yesterday going to give the team any clues or pointers as to what's wrong with the bike in the dry? |

Probably is better to get clues from dry races and from the Ducati riders who are properly fighting the bike in them

Someone needs to write a thesis on why riders riding at their home GP tend to have a bit of a disaster. It can't be as simple as 'pressure' can it? It must be more complex than.

Well, this race must have really sucked. Nobody seems all that impressed. I missed yet another GP, and don't feel too fussed about it. Wsbk this weekend. Yay.

Most British riders do well in the UK, McWilliams, Redding, Bradley, Mackenzie, Reynolds, nearly all of them got better reeults in UK GP's, not to mention the WSBK wildcard riders Byrne, Hodgson, Walker etc who were all podium men in BSB WSBK wildcards.
MEasn little really other than having a better knowlegde of the track and perhaps a better idea of setup and ratios. |
