With GMs current financial situation be happy that there will be a new model at all - from all accounts the Zeta platform was scrapped last year - no diesel option at this stage , a VRM option was mooted @ big $$$ - DOD not an option at this stage - a major weight gain expected 100kg has been mentioned .
GM lost another 10 billion so far this year , a program to buyout the workers entitlements which is crippling the company hasn't been fruitful as at the end of the day they don't have the funds available and the share price has continued to fall - workers entitlements are worth approx 65 billion $$$ - get a headache from reading how deep GM and Ford have allowed themselves to sink into the pooh and the desperate measures they now have to face to keep the ship afloat - GM keep building vehicles that no one wants , then they discount them down to a level where they are making a loss on each unit - GMAC is there only saving grace :

And it has been reported that GM has relinquished 51% of GMAC overnight (4 April 2006).

GM is just about "kanga..."

Thanks for the up-date , seems no one saw that coming !! - GMAC for the past 6 months or so have been doing finance deals that 12 months ago would have been thrown out the door , eg no credit checks - no employment history - think you can afford it , then you can have it !! - I wonder if that will change ; they were probably writing eveything up to boost the figures !! .

I hate to change the topic here but ...

cues from Audi? The BA Falcon's front end is a ******* child of a few different models. Predominantly however it isn't from Audi - it is from the Ford Mustang. Compare the two - they are very, very similar.

edit: the sensored word there is "b a s t a r d", not a swear word in the capacity I used it.

I was referring more to the rear of the car. J Mays, Ford US design chief at the time who did add his 5c to the BA, was a previous employee of Audi.

And this has what to do with the 'new race winner', in terms of V8Supercars?

Oh sorry, this must be one of those misleading thread titles!

Vanilla Dice has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
Its an ugly looking car, not handsome like the first VT was..

The 380 is a LOT better car!

Hmmm, i might add a few things.

New engines at some point, LS3 and L92. Both 6.2L. And watch out for the LS9. If you thought the LS7 was bad ass you aint seen nothing yet!

"Zeta" is cancelled. But "Global RWD platform" isn't. VE is part a of the "Global RWD platform". The trick is that the VE will be a once again highly modified v-car but with all new suspension/sheet metal etc. Instead of the yanks getting the same car as Holden as with the "Zeta" plan, they figured out that it would cost too much money so it was cancelled for NA. Now with "Global RWD platform" that Holden is leading the yanks are going to use the current caddy floor pan (modified) but use Holdens suspension + other bit and pieces that has been designed for VE. The reason for all this craziness? Holden's factory at Elizabeth runs very very differently to the yank factories and the cost of setting a US factory up the same as Holden's would cost way too much. But setting up a US factory similar to the current caddy factory is a relative piece of cake.

TT V6? maybe
Turbo diesel? VE2 maybe.
6 Speed auto, V8s. 5 speed auto for the V6.

The Global RWD Platform IS Zeta. The RWD show cars at the recent motor shows were based on the Zeta platform, the same as Commodore. It's been designed around both US and AU processes so that they can be built in either country. Zeta was canned, apart from Commodore, but then brought back to life because it is something GM needs - desperately - and the bean counters were (finally) convinced of this.

DoD was officially admitted about 2 months ago. Just looking at my Feb edition on Motor: 18" wheels on the SV8, dual pipes, quad pipes on SS, likely over 200kg heavier than VZ, 3 or 4 tail light designs, at least 2 headlight designs, 4 grilles and 3 bumpers. Exec to get 17" wheels and 300mm brakes. And importantly, gas struts for the boot lid.
